I found Ember Sewing Machine repair online, after another place failed me miserably. I had dropped off my 1973 Singer 717 to another repair shop on 12-10 and they had it 2 weeks before telling me they couldn’t fix it.
Since this was a machine given to me by mother, it meant a lot to me especially since my mother had passed in July. I brought it to Ember’s (a 1 hour trip one way) and they said it would be expensive but they would try.
I realize I could have bought another machine cheaper, but after explaining that it was a gift and I had, had it forever, I didn’t want to lose the machine so soon after losing my mother. Jay Spoolstra at Ember knew I wanted my mother’s machine and made it happen.
I left the machine, and within a few hours I received a phone call that they COULD fix the machine and I could pick it up THE NEXT DAY. I was thrilled.
The price for what they did I thought was quite reasonable, since I was expecting the other shop to charge me over $100.00 JUST to service it.
After getting it back in its table, and hooking it up. It has never worked so well. So quiet.
If you need a sewing machine serviced or repaired, don’t waste your time with the stores within a big box craft shop. Go to the folks that know what they are doing....
Read moreWhat a delightful place. I stopped by after happening to see it on a drive down Main Street. Now that I know the hobby I started a couple of years ago is a keeper for me, I’m planning to get a quality machine (not necessarily expensive, but something that is designed to be serviced and maintained) once my current starter-level lots-of-plastic machine gives up. I live abroad and am visiting family, so I mentioned that I wasn’t likely to purchase something in the shop, but the folks here were still so generous with their time and expertise. I tried out a refurbished machine that had been restored with such care; it sewed beautifully. I probably would have bought it and stuffed it into my carry-on, but I decided I wanted a feature it didn’t have. I also chatted about what machines I should be considering given my needs, and walked away with a recommendation for a specific machine, which I can definitely buy at home. I wish I could give them a commission for it! The least I can do is leave this review. This shop is the real deal, and I highly...

He was very concerned about my disappointment with their service and made a 110% effort to make sure that my issue was resolved. He really cares about his customers and goes the extra mile. If you are dissatisfied in any way, please reach out to him. One of the few people who still cares about his customers. Original Review Edited: I recently went in to have my sewing machine serviced because the automated cutter was not working. When I returned home to use my machine, the automated cutter was not working. Jay and his associate were to replace the blade, but when I opened the machine, there was a rusty blade in my machine. They never changed the blade. In addition, since servicing my machine here, my machine’s thread keeps jamming when I’m working. Have worked with this machine the last few months with no issues...
