I ate here on 5/2/2019. I had planned to take my fiancé to a nice mom-and-pop restaurant such as this one! I've been here many times in the past (roughly 3-5 years ago). We walked in, hostess seated us and asked what to drink. I ordered an unsweet tea, and when hostess came back with the drinks she asked me if I ordered water. I didn't fully hear her and said "What?", to which her reply was "I thought so" and left the water. I let that go, figured she misheard what I said. So then an older gentleman approached and obtained our food order. Then we played the waiting game. Again, another thing I let go, even though it really was not that busy. Food finally arrived, and that was the very last time anybody came to check up on us. I picked at my fries, as I wanted something for my burger, and waited for when someone would come by to check up. 15-minutes goes by, both my fiancé and myself now have empty cups, fries are gone, and still nobody came by. Other waitresses were checking up on their tables, even OUR WAITER went to other tables checking up on them, excluding us. So, being the patient person I am, I continue to wait. Another 15-minutes goes by, and I finally had enough and I stopped the Hostess and requested a box and my check. AFTER I had done that, our waiter came by and I quote "Hey dude, this is the first time I've been able to make it to you". Now, I understand we were most likely the youngest people in there (29 & 27), but really? Horrible service, I can't rate the food beyond the fries because, by the time I made the decision to stop the HOSTESS my burger was cold, nobody EVER checked up on our drinks or if anything was wrong. I hope the owner reads this review, cause I sincerely was disappointed, and felt quite uncomfortable seeing the majority of other tables receiving sufficient service, but why not us? Unfortunately, I do not think I will be returning to this...
Read moreIt was our first time trying this particular place. We had the fish, fries and coleslaw Friday special for 8.99. You can go to all you can eat 12.99. It was 2 pieces of Haddock with a nice amount of fries and the Cole slaw was slightly sweet. Overall i thought it was pretty good. Service was excellent and friendly. This edit is dinner on Dec.3, 2018. The difference between eating lunch and dinner here was surprising. We were seated promptly because we didn't want to wait on a booth to come available. Our waitress was the same person that waited on us in the lunch review. She took our order soon after sitting down and then is when the difference between lunch and dinner showed itself. Drink refills were very slow and when my shrimp stir fry came it looked like it came from the freezer section of Wal-Mart. It was identical to a tv dinner stir fry with one negative exception. The shrimp still had the tail on. I had to take them out and pull the tail off getting the oily teriyaki sauce on my fingers. The vegetables were primarily carrot pieces, broccoli florets and red bell pepper pieces. There were a few mushroom pieces and water chestnut. So after the meal i decided to try the carrot cake. Its texture showed it had been either frozen or refrigerated for some time. It was dense and overly sweet. 2 waters, 2 small portion dinners without appetizer or salad and 2 desserts 36.88. Not worth it. As a side note i heard a regular at a booth behind us comment to the manager the night before they had gone there to eat and the restaraunt was out of allot of sides. He tried to come up with excuses but couldn't give a good excuse. The manager never came and asked us how the meal was only the...
Read moreIf you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be hugged by breakfast, Country Boy Restaurant in Dunedin is the answer. I walked in craving something light and healthy, but still delicious — and left with my faith in humanity restored, a full belly, and a deep spiritual connection to rye toast.
Let’s start with the veggie omelette. This wasn’t your average “meh” pile of scrambled egg sadness. No. This was a Michelangelo masterpiece of vegetables. I swear I heard an angelic choir when it hit the table. It was fluffy, flavorful, and stuffed with more fresh veggies than a farmer’s market on steroids. The rye toast was toasted to a golden crisp that would make even a bagel jealous. And the coffee? Let’s just say it was the kind of smooth, comforting brew that makes you want to buy a flannel shirt and start a diner podcast.
Now let’s talk service. Imagine the most attentive, friendly server you’ve ever had… then add three cups of coffee and a sprinkle of Southern hospitality. That’s the level of joy they bring you. I felt like royalty. Like I was about to be knighted with a spatula.
And the place itself? Spotless. Tidy. Welcoming. It’s the kind of place where the regulars have their own chairs and the servers remember your order before you even sit down. If this restaurant were a person, I’d send them a Christmas card and invite them to my wedding.
Long story short: Go. Eat. Be happy. Laugh. Get the omelette. Tell your friends. And prepare to become a loyal Country Boy believer, because this place is breakfast heaven with a side of sass and a...
