From the moment we walked in, Blue Sake promised a culinary adventure, and it delivered just that! We kicked off our lunch with a duo of appetizers that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The chicken satay was a revelation, marinated in a vibrant yellow curry that was both flavorful and moist, creating a perfect harmony with the unique red onion sweet water. Next, the fresh rolls wrapped in delicate rice paper were not only a visual treat but also incredibly filling. They were the perfect prelude to the main event. The cold, flavored sake selection was a journey of its own – the plum was a sweet whisper of fruitiness, while the coconut with lemongrass was a bold statement of tropical zest, both equally tasty. The green curry for lunch was a masterful blend of heat and sweet, striking a delightful balance with its medium spice level and the subtle sweetness of basil. As for my main course, the grilled chicken with lemongrass was a standout, perfectly portioned and accompanied by a medley of steamed veggies and a comforting side of rice. Overall, our first experience was nothing short of wonderful. It's a place where flavors are celebrated, and satisfaction is guaranteed. We left with our taste buds dancing and a promise to ourselves – we will be back!

I have gotten take out from Blue Sake twice before and it was good/okay (specifically the drunken noodles, they weren't as flavorful as I had hoped, but I also ordered them without fish sauce, so that could have been why). I went to their $15 labor day buffet today and everything was really good. the vegetable Phad See You was great, as was the chicken with chili sauce, Beef basil, pumpkin chicken curry and fried rice. My husband had the sushi and said it was really good and that the pad thai was delicious. The Thai tea was also very yummy. The ladies that work there are also all really nice as well. As someone who cannot eat a whole ton in one sitting, I usually opt out of buffets or all you can eat meals as they are too expensive for the amount I actually end up eating. But this buffet was well priced with a ton of good food and it was really nice to sample different dishes to see what would be good to order later. We will definitely be back again.

This is a very interesting place chock full of goodies. A friend had recommended it and so hubby and I thought we’d try it on a Friday for lunch....BEST LUNCH in a long time!!! We went specifically for sushi so I cannot comment on the other dishes...that WILL happen at a later date. Our server greeted us at the door and showed us to our table, taking our drink order as soon as we were seated. The menu is quite extensive but we concentrated on the sushi part. Great selection so it was difficult to make a choice of less than 5!!! We selected 3 that apealed to us. They have a small bar with 4 barstools, a sushi bar with 5 stools and lots of tables. The parking situation is great and it’s location is perfect. Our sushi platter arrived, beautifully presented and outstanding in taste. I heartily recommend this little gem.

It’s not a big name place to begin with, driven by it a ton never really considered it, but when we got a $15 coupon for my birthday month we thought “heck, let’s try it out”. We show the coupon ahead of time to make sure it’s valid, and the server says we have to buy a drink in order to use it. I looked at it back and forth and it doesn’t say that anywhere on the coupon, but whatever, we ordered a sweet tea. She comes back and says we actually have to order 2 drinks, or at least I’m pretty sure that’s what she said, there was a language barrier between us and our server. I asked to get clarification from a manager and the manager said it’s a mistake, it was supposed to say purchase of two drinks, so we need to buy two drinks. Obviously this is a bait and switch by a cheap owner who’s trying to guilt people into spending more money and nullify the coupon. I said that’s fine we’ll leave this is a scam and she said she’d “make an exception”. Whatever.

Food comes out all at once, again, whatever. Tried the “chicken fresh roll” and I kid you not, there was a SLIVER of chicken on this thing. It was comical. It was essentially a lettuce wrap. At this point it was funny.

The sushi was actually solid, but the crab Rangoon was just average.

Finally the bill comes and we give the coupon for $15 off an item and they chose the cheapest item. I asked if it could be one of the sushi rolls, not the $7 “fresh roll”, and they said no it doesn’t specify which entree we decide. Ha! Such a scummy run business that doesn’t want return clients. Deserves to fail like it currently is (place was empty). But the sushi was...

Visiting Blue Sake has been a tradition whenever we visit Dunedin every year for the Wearable Art fundraiser, but after this visit we won't go back. The service was incredibly slow and our waiter was rude from the beginning. There was almost no one in the restaurant, maybe 2-3 tables with people, but it took more than two hours to get food and it came out at random times. It took about twenty minutes to get waters, so we tried to order appetizers while placing our drink order since it was taking so long, and the waiter informed us that if we wanted to place appetizer orders then we wouldn't get our drinks, he would only do one or the other. We also were not allowed to order additional sake until our current sake was finished so we could give him the bottle, so it took a long time to get his attention and get additional drinks. In addition, two of us didn't receive the rolls we ordered, and when we tried to bring it up we were told that was what we ordered. When we received the check, the amount before we paid was different than the amount after the card was run. On my check, an additional bottle of sake was added after the fact.

We are incredibly disappointed, as this was a long-standing tradition, and even with our comments that night it didn't seem like management cared about their customer service or their wait staff. The food was good, and I'll miss their Golden Shrimp dish, but we won't...
