Home Depot Dishwasher Disappointment
My dishwasher delivery and installation timeframe was 2:30-6:30pm on 7/12. I waited around all day and received no word regarding my delivery.
When I called at 6:40pm, ten minutes after my 4-hour delivery timeframe ended, I was told that the delivery crew was at ‘stop #14’ and that I was #15. I was told that I’d get a call shortly and that they’d be on their way to me.
An hour later I had still not heard anything, so I called again at 7:34pm and spoke with Greg. He informed me that he also saw that the delivery truck was at #14. He said he had no way of contacting the truck and that the company who makes the deliveries closed at 8pm so it was unlikely he’d get anyone on the phone there. Note that he didn’t try to call with a half hour to go before they closed. I asked Greg what I was supposed to do since I had spent all day waiting and had not heard anything and now had things to do other than waste time at home. He said that if the delivery truck arrived and I wasn’t home, I’d have to call tomorrow to reschedule delivery. I asked him if this meant I’d have to wait another week. He said that was likely. I asked him how I go about having my delivery and installation fees refunded for this unacceptable situation and he suggested I call after installation is made to request compensation.
I waited because, frankly, I need the darn dishwasher installed. No sign of delivery. I called again at 8:46pm and sat on hold for 10 minutes. I spoke with Donna who was only able to tell me the same thing I had now heard three times as I waited for the past 2.5 hours. She said she was able to reschedule me if I wanted. If I wanted. What I had wanted was to have a dishwasher delivered and installed on 7/12 between 2:30 and 6:30 - a generous 4-hour timespan. As it was dark outside at that point, and I live alone, It was entirely unacceptable for random installers, likely men, to be in my home after 9pm. Donna told me that the next available delivery date is July 22. That is 10 days from my original installation date. So I was blown off by the delivery and installation crew and now get to wait 10 more days to get my dishwasher? No, this is ridiculous.
It is completely unacceptable that I should spend half of my Friday work day waiting around my house for installers who not only do not show up but also give no indication or communication about why they are not on time or when they intend to arrive.
I find it ridiculous that a delivery truck is able to be tracked but not contacted. I just waited around twiddling my thumbs for 7 hours of my day when I could have been doing any number of things. Come to think of it, I could have picked up and installed the darn dishwasher by myself in that amount of time. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable service from Home Depot and their chosen delivery vendor in Durham, NC. I will be calling for compensation of delivery and installation fees at the very least.
I will be going with Lowe’s...
Read more!!!THIS STORE DOES NOT HONOR THEIR ADVERTISED SPECIALS!!! I gave this 3 STARS due to my very pleasant experience with CHARITY who was an absolute professional, otherwise this store would get 1 star..I went to Home Depot for something else and happen to see the POSTED ADVERTISED KITCHEN SUITE package of 4 appliances for $1,998. The ad expired the day before HOWEVER CHARITY did an inquiry and found that the ADVERTISED package had been extended thru 5/13/2020. The only variable was the dishwasher and CHARITY found a comparable one that was an upgrade cheaper than the one in the package. She refereed me to MEL and gave MEL a great reference. I returned the next day and had a HORRIBLE experience. Not only did MEL take a phone call after being told I was waiting for her, she had me waiting another 15 mins. I advised MEL of my discussion with CHARITY and referred MEL to the ADVERTISED KITCHEN SUITE package that was STILL POSTED..MEL snatched the signage from the refrigerator, and said "this is expired". AGAIN, I reiterated that the special had been extended thru 5/13/2020 MEL was very argumentative. Another associate (JTE79EW) attempted to assist. She and MEL looked each appliance up n the system and add them to the virtual "cart". The cost was $2,4 31.. I informed them that price was NOT the ADVERTISED KITCHEN SUITE package for $1,998. JTE79W said she spoke with her department supervisor and they would honor the DISCOUNT...Well that didn't happen. During the entire breakdown and preparation of the sale, JTE79W was condescending, snippy, and acted as if SHE was doing me a favor. The TOTAL COST came to $2,854. When I questioned her about the figures and stated with the $1,998 ADVERTISED KITCHEN SUITE package my calculations came to $2,631. JTE79W spazzed, telling me 'THAT'S NOT YOU ASKED FOR !!!" " "You showed us the appliances you and CHARITY selected and that's what I gave you." JTE79W rambled on and when she was done chastising me she ended it with "WE CAN ONLY GIVE SO MANY DISCOUNTS" I told her I asked that HOME DEPOT honor that $1,998 ADVERTISED KITCHEN SUITE package and that SHE WAS NOT DOING ME FAVOR...A favor would be getting those appliances for FREE...HONORING the ADVERTISED KITCHEN SUITE package IS BUSINESS. SIDE NOTE: EVEN IF THE ADVERTISED SPECIAL IS EXPIRED, MOST STORES HONOR THE SALE BECAUSE IT WAS STILL POSTED...I posted the ADVERTISEMENT Home Depot DIDN'T honor This experience was very disturbing.. I left. I went to their competitor and got a better deal on a Samsung Kitchen Suite...I will never chose Home Depot again. S/O THANKS NANCY!!! you're uncooperative disposition and lack of loyalty to a Home Depot patron afforded me the opportunity to shop elsewhere, whereby getting a better deal UPDATE- My Stainless Steel kitchen suite from the competitor arrived...
Read moreEmployee "Sonia" was absolutely terrible. I was sitting in the lumber department with a cart full of lumber waiting near the registers waiting on my fellow employee to go pick up other stuff in the store. While waiting I noticed the line was not moving for a good 15 minutes and thought that was strange. Noticed there was a guy purchasing some lumber and the employee seemed to just not comprehend English and basic human functions. Another 7 minutes or so went by and I glanced up again to see the progress, noticed the guy second in line was red in the face and looking around frantically, after he didn't see any other employee he cussed and literally threw his items on the floor and walked out ( lost customer #1) . A few minutes later the guy in the back of the line left his whole cart of lumber and walked out ( Customer lost #2). Within 30 seconds a lumber employee came by and asked me if that was my cart ( the one im standing beside but I did have about 4 around me) I told him yes and he said people have been getting in line and leaving and leaving the carts full of lumber just sitting and they had to put them back. ( Customer lost # many). Finally after 30 minutes or so my fellow employee came back with a cart full of other items he got during this time and we went to check out. The original guy was still there and she had to have ( what I believe to be a manager or supervisor) come and do something and they got him out. Finally it was our turn. It took us about 10 minutes for just a few pieces of trim wood and base wood. She was very hard to understand and very hard headed. We finally got through and went out to load up. There were trucks just parked blocking the loading zone so I had to back the truck up through other trucks just to load up. After I got through I went inside and told a fella in the lumber section that there was a dark green GMC truck with 2 guys just sitting inside and blocking everyone from loading. ( He went out and told them to move). All in all "Sonia" is costing this store a lot of money being they lost 2 customers from what I saw and there were about 5 carts full of wood and dry wall just sitting that they had to pay other employee's to put back ( from what I can think is) because of the very slow employee "Sonia". Normally this home depot is "okay" but this time was absolutely terrible and we had to explain to our boss why it took us a hr and half to just pick up wood. He told us to not go to that home depot anymore ( now home depot lost thousands right there) because we go by there almost once a day buying supplies but no more. Home depots in general seem to always have a management issue but this one in particular is terrible and I DO NOT recommend...
