As a Dominican it pains me to have to write this review but I rely so heavily on reviews myself that I feel I must share. Dominican restaurants are hard to come by in the south and I was pleasantly surprised to find one in my town.
Atmosphere: The restaurant itself was decorated with relics from the country and you could tell they were intentional about how they wanted the restaurant to look. The outside is made to look like a regular house you would find in DR. When we walked in the restaurant was quiet, and pretty dark. The air was hot and humid and there didn't seem to be much ventilation. There were also vulgarities on the bathroom doors and I think this plays into the stereotype that Dominicans are "unrefined".
Service: The waitress was nice and gave us a several page menu but was not knowledgeable about specifics regarding ingredients and taste. She was the only one working at the time so I won't fault her for her lack of attention.
Food: Dominican food has a unique flavor from other hispanic cuisines and every dominican lady's food and every restaurant I had ever been to the flavor is very similar. Here the habicheulas literally tasted like they were just boiled. The pollo guisado also had hardly any flavor and the sauce it was in was super oily. The only authentically flavored food we tried was the sancocho. This restaurant also has Mexican food which I found really strange considering how the cuisines are so drastically different. The pricing for the food was also super expensive. I got a jugo de chinola that was basically 10oz for $6 and no refills!
If you are looking for semi-authentic Dominican food head over to the food bar at the back of...

This time around I had beef and shrimp Empanadas, rolo black beans and rice, and the shredded red cabbage with white vinigar; pairs so well together; who knew?
So yummy together I always want to buy extra, because each time ive had leftovers, it taste even better the next day, both times.
My significant other always gets the salmon, with yellow rice and ask for Avacado on top, (does cost extra) however it is worth it for a peice of additional comfort and happiness, we also tried the sweet pina drink and the mango over ice. Cant wait to...
Read moreToday was my 1st time eating Latin Food. I was so freaking disappointed. I paid 30.00 for some Shrimp like 6 on some plantains or some crap. I was starving and I am so mad I didn't stop by the Mexican restaurant. The ladies who were working were awesome. They need to freshen up the Menu and make it more English Friendly. I was so lost on what to order. My food didn't look nothing like the pictures. Also I was not aware that it was 30.00. I would never eat out and pay that. I am budget friendly and I know a place where 4 ppl could have ate for that. This is just a my experience please go and have your own. I hate to do reviews because I don't want to hurt the company. Thanks to the lady...
