UPDATE: My husband convinced me to visit again and although hesitant, I gave them a second chance. I Shopped for flowers and was very well taken care of by Sandra R. who helped me put together a beautiful bouquet and she was very friendly as well as had a very pleasant personality. Then at checkout, Cynthia M. was dealing with a hectic customer before me and she handles the situation with professionalism and her smile never faded despite the customer being rude and unpleasant to her. She greeted me with a smile and I told her about my previous experience and how her and Sandra changed my view of the store. Sadly, I saw Luis and the manager again and was not happy to see their faces, but hope they can too adopt Sandra's and Cynthia's attitude instead and learn from them on what customer service should be about. Bumping HEB to 3 stars instead of 1.
Years without coming to HEB (since I was a minor) and I have always stuck with Walmart. Today, I came for the convenience of being near it for the moment being. I noticed big lines on 4 or 5 registers open and opted for the self checkout instead. My mistake was assuming and not seeing the sign on top that it was 10 items or less. The manager approached me as I am practically more than halfway done scanning and obviously I didn’t pay attention to the sign, instead of letting me finish, he tells me to put everything back on my cart and he will cancel the order. Strike one since I’m a fast scanner and almost done scanning my about 20 items or so. Then strike 2 at the register with Luis G. I get to his register and before he starts scanning, I tell him if I need to scan the box of juices (as it is heavy and I cannot lift it). He tells me no or I’ll get in trouble. Understanding. He asks me if I had any other items on the cart, I say no. He then tells the guy bagging while handing him the scanner “Here. Check to see if she has anything else on the cart.” The guy says “no”. I tell him that’s what I said. Like if I’m gonna steal anything for God’s sake! Never again coming to HEB. I’m sticking to Walmart where they have nice employees and no limit on the...
Read moreEmployee Cynthia Martinez was very rude and did not respect my decision of social distancing. I was following rules and in the spot I was supposed to be. She asked me to move up in line to bring a customer from another lane. I stated that I was not comfortable moving up till the customer finished paying. She said, Smf! Smirked and told me ma'am you can move up. I said, not till they check out. She yelled, saying HEB gas rules (which I was following and she was urging me to break). Laughs at me and says that if I have a problem to talk to her supervisor. I brushed it off. Moved up when it was my turn and the famous Cynthia Martinez approached me again, leaned in at me breaking social distancing, invading my space. Smirked to me in a very hateful tone in Spanish saying, " No te dije nada, solo te pedi que the avansada!" And walk away angrily. She had no right to reappoach me in any form or way. Her behavior extremely inappropriate. I have been a customer since I moved to the area and have never been treated in that manner. So disrespectful and a lack of common courtesy. She tried to take my right away from me. View the cameras. I expect to see a change in her lack in customer service and...
Read moreIn short, there's always some disappoint at this location, but it's still the best option by virtue of poor competition.
It's the best option in town, but that's just because they're the only supermarket (besides maybe Walmart). Compare it to any other HEB, though, and it's pretty bad. The selection is limited - there are always things I'm looking for that they don't carry. It's nice that they offer curb-side pickup, but EVERY time there's an item marked as out of stock with no replacement, and EVERY time I go in to find a replacement and the original item is in stock, right where you'd expect it. Also, I got heavy whipping cream one time and when I got home it was fully whipped cream inside?? Like, how poorly did it have to be handled for that to happen? That might've been the supplier's fault, but it was HEB brand.
Edit: forgot to add that the corn offered is consistently the worst quality I've ever seen in a grocery store. Like, the kind that's so scrawny and patchy that most farmers wouldn't try to sell...
