I say this with a saddened heart. If I could leave zero stars, I would! Working in retail management, my experience at this Target was one of the most unprofessional and disappointing I have ever had. Christine, who holds the role of “Guest Advocate,” failed entirely to live up to that title. Instead of advocating for me as a paying guest, she dismissed my concerns, showed little to no understanding of her responsibilities, and made it clear that she either has not been properly trained or does not care to uphold Target’s standards of guest service.
Unfortunately, her lack of professionalism is clearly a reflection of her manager, Caroline. When I attempted to escalate the situation, Caroline flatly refused to provide service that resolved my concern (return). What made this interaction disturbing was the way she carried herself during the exchange. Her tone, body language, and overall demeanor were laced with microaggressions that left me, as a brown guest, feeling singled out and treated with no respect and dignity than the countered white guests being helped around me. The contrast in treatment was glaring and deeply uncomfortable, bias being impossible to ignore.
As a brown guest, I could clearly see the difference in how I was treated compared to white guests around me, who were spoken to with courtesy and patience.
Instead of trying to resolve the issue, Caroline chose to escalate it by involving Asset Protection. This felt like a calculated move: rather than de-escalate or resolve the situation, she weaponized another employee’s presence against me. It sent a clear message that I was being treated as a “problem” rather than as a valued guest. This was not only humiliating but also deeply unsettling.
This was not simply poor customer service, it was discriminatory, hostile, and a direct contradiction of the values Target claims to uphold. Christine and Caroline’s actions reflect a toxic culture at this location, one where bias and intimidation take the place of genuine guest advocacy. Target promotes itself as a brand rooted in diversity, inclusion, and putting the guest first. What I experienced here was the complete opposite: bias, exclusion, and a blatant disregard for the company’s own mission statement. I walked away feeling unheard, dismissed, and devalued. It is unacceptable for any guest to be treated this way, and especially disheartening at a company that markets itself as a safe and inclusive space for all. I strongly urge Target corporate to investigate this location, hold Christine and Caroline accountable for their conduct, and address the misuse of Asset Protection.
This was not just bad customer service, it was a clear display of bias and discrimination. It is alarming that employees in leadership positions, such as Caroline, not only fail to embody Target’s mission of inclusivity and guest-first service but also actively contribute to an environment where certain guests are treated as less valued. Christine mirrored that same lack of respect, reinforcing the idea that this is a culture problem at this location rather than a one-off incident noted by previous reviews with similar backgrounds.
Target promotes itself as a company that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Yet what I experienced here was the opposite: a lack of accountability, a refusal to treat all guests equally, and behavior that completely undermines the trust customers place in the Target brand. I walked away from this visit feeling unheard, dismissed, and discriminated against.
For a company of Target’s reputation, this is unacceptable and should not be ignored. I strongly urge corporate leadership to investigate the culture and practices at this location, hold both Christine and Caroline accountable for their conduct, and ensure that no other guest is made to feel the way I was. Until then, I will not be returning to this store and I would advise others who ally and value respectful, unbiased customer service to...
Read moreWOW! Talk about EXCELLENT customer service at Target on Eagle in Boise, Idaho! Several days ago, I purchased a rocker-recliner nursery chair although it's so comfortable, I'm not using it in a nursery but in my library. The chair had to be pulled off the shelves in the back somewhere. Well, Dylan, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. He left the customer service desk to go and get the chair. Apparently, the heavy boxed-in chair was up high on the racks and had to be juggled around some other boxes, etc in order for Dylan to bring it down on his cart. After I paid for it, I was told if I drive my car up to the front curb Dylan would load it for me. Sure enough, Dylan and another employee, Zion, both wheeled the box out to my car. Well, we soon found out that the box was too big to fit into my medium sized SUV. Now what do I do? Target can't be responsible for merchandise after you've paid for it. I suggested taking it out of the thick, heavily taped, cardboard box and see if it then will fit. Dylan cheerfully ran into the store and got a boxcutter. Both Dylan and Zion worked very hard cutting and tearing the cardboard off to unwrap the chair. If you've ever had to do this you know it isn't an easy task either. It took some muscles, believe it! Together, they lifted the unassembled (2-part) chair into my SUV and it fit perfectly. They were both so extremely nice and pleasant which, in my opinion, is rare these days. Both of these young men have extremely nice and sweet attitudes. They "genuinely" gave me above and beyond the usual customer service that comes with the big box stores territory. Then, if that wasn't enough, I tried to tip them and give them $10 each and they both immediately thanked me, but graciously declined the tip. That, too, is a rarity these days. Anyway, I had to write this review because they both are truly so refreshing. Target, you have two exceptional employees working for you. Please value and take care of them as they took care of me! Hopefully, you already...
Read moreI would not describe this as a grocery store as the ad did. It sells food but not produce. I think it's limited selection is great if you need to pick up some thing while you shop for other things, but don't expect a full grocery store with fresh food. I love the store. The staff is friendly and helpful and has been for the 15 years I've been going there. The selection is better quality and more stylish than Walmart, Kmart, Shopko type of stores. I feel like I can get a more designer style for very low prices. Their electronics department is very convenient. I find what I need most of the time without having to go to Best Buy or some such electronics store. Their clothing is stylish and better quality than Walmart. The staff treats me like a person more than feeling like a number like I do at bigger box stores and warehouses. That's really important to me. They have a great selection and they help me with most of my needs. My friends and I joke that if we leave Target without spending at least $100, we've really accomplished something. Yes, I have been guilty of a lot of spontaneous purchases there, but their value is excellent and they are so convenient. Like their advertising indicates, they are a fun store with up to date products and not too expensive. I strongly...
