I recently visited Kohl’s to return an item but, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. I usually keep track of my receipts or use my phone number for purchases, but for some reason, for some reason neither option was used for this purchase this time. The cashier informed me that she needed to check with her manager to do a return without receipt , and that’s when Alfonso R. came over.
From the start, his attitude was dismissive. He immediately told me that without a receipt, they could not process the return. I explained that I likely purchased the item using Kohl’s Cash, to which he responded in a condescending manner, questioning whether I had "that much" Kohl’s Cash. I found this remark unnecessary and unprofessional, as I shop at Kohl’s frequently.
He then went further, implying that I could have purchased the item years ago or even from another store. At that point, I felt like he was accusing me of dishonesty, which was both insulting and completely uncalled for. I told him that his remarks were disrespectful, especially toward a loyal customer. I even recalled seeing him before, previously overhearing him discussing his personal dissatisfaction with his job to another customer. Something about having a degree in IT working in NYC but the commute was too long and working here because it pays the bills. Like I said I go to this store a lot I do all my Amazon returns here. I also shop a lot at Amazon.
I have always recommended Kohl’s to others not anymore. This experience has made me feel extremely uncomfortable I don’t think I will be returning to this location. The item I was trying to return was defective, not just an unwanted purchase. Alfonso R.'s unprofessionalism and poor attitude reflect poorly on this store. If he is unhappy in his position, perhaps he should consider working elsewhere instead of taking his frustration out on customers.

Read moreWas driving on my way home and stopped by this location. My family member purchased an item, but the cashier was too busy talking to another cashier to remember to put it in the bag. So after driving 30 minutes home, I had to drive all the way back just to re-get the item that was already purchased because someone couldn’t pay attention to their job.
This same woman also incorrectly told me multiple times — with an attitude — to enter my email address. They push so hard on getting you to sign up for credit cards that they forget their actual job is to take your money and complete the purchase. She kept me there inconvenienced for about 20 minutes, until I eventually gave up, put my stuff down, and walked out of the store with my son. My wife stayed to make the payment, and the item was forgotten in the bag.
That’s the kind of “service” you get from this Kohl’s. When I came back, the customer service rep offered me 10% off, but I don’t think they understand that my time, the hour drive, the aggravation, and everything in between aren’t worth 10%. This is exactly why retail is dying. And I'm sure that this review will be met with some type of generic response as to how they're going to look into it or take care of it. However, I'm going to call corporate tomorrow morning and let them actually take care of the problem at hand which is there's too many cashiers and Staff that are communicating with one another when they're not supposed to concentrating on their job. Your staff member should be trained better. The time that I was there it wasn't overwhelming and there wasn't any lines. I am a frequent online Kohl's shopper, very helpful during pandemic, I have high risk health issues & must be careful when I go in public. I've always been happy shopping Kohl's until lately. My last 2 purchases have been delivered (curbside delivery) with the wrong item or size. So I still have to take a chance going in the store to return these items. 1 was a leather coat, original price $425.00, they gave me the wrong size. Then I purchased a stirling silver chain but was given rose gold over silver. What's going on there? Like a said earlier, I shop Kohl's Online all the time and never had issues like this. If it continues I will have to find somewhere else more reliable for my Christmas shopping. My health is too important.
