I cannot describe how nice it is to have good BBQ in Central NJ. This place sits in the former spot of a Dickey's BBQ, and the difference is nice and day between the two places. Everything at Jersey Shore BBQ seems to be made fresh on premises, and it really tells in all their items.
I spent a year living in Charlotte, and it was next to impossible to find BBQ. I'm so happy that I finally found a local place that takes me back to the great BBQ I had back down South. The only thing that would put it over the top would be if they had Cheerwine in the fountain.
We've been to this location I'd have to say at least 8 or 9 times since they opened, and never had anything that wasn't delicious.
Really enjoy their smoked kielbasa which they procure from a local Polish deli. What's really great is the special Down Home Mustard sauce they made just for the kielbasa, it's really worth a try.
We prefer the pulled pork over the pulled chicken, but both are still very good.
If you want moist, fatty brisket get the sliced, as the chopped tends to be a bit more lean.
When it comes to their sides we usually always end up getting their macaroni and cheese, along with their bacon potato salad. Also nice are their pickles which are tart with a garlic punch that really pairs well with the smoky and sweet BBQ.
I can't suggest people to give this place a shot, it's just a shame it's not really visible from the main road, but seriously people just take the right off of 18 onto Tices and you'll be able to smell the meat...
Read moreFirst time trying JSBBQ and I'm not impressed. While the meat cut quality was fine, the flavor is just bad. No seasoning, seriously lacking the basic salt and pepper. Very little onion or garlic flavor, but total overkill on the smoke, vinegar and chipoltle chilis. I understand it's Carolina BBQ, which I don't care for, and wished I had known prior to trying them, but this just isn't good. We ordered brisket, ribs, porkbelly and pulled pork. All were way over charred except the pulled pork that was absolutely flavorless. The wings were saltless, burnt to a crisp and dry to where they were difficult to choke down. The bbq sauce is terrible and I had to use our bottled sauce. The corn bread was great, tastes exactly like Krusteaz boxed honey cornbread - I'm willing to bet it actually is. The mac and cheese was a saltless, disgusting atrocity. The flavor of the baked beans was great! But the consistency was that of macerated refried beans, definitely heated and reheated too many times. The potato salad was ok, but an odd horseradish flavor kinda kills it. Too many issues with lack of basic seasoning, integrated with not so great or odd flavors throughout most of the food across the board, I won't...
Read moreI've actually been to Jersey Shore BBQ in Belmar and East Brunswick. The funny part is I had two entirely different experiences! At the other location I was served a tiny chicken leg with no meat on it when I ordered the chicken platter. At this location I was served a generous portion with plenty of meat! Today, I ordered the bbq chicken and the pulled chicken with Mac and cheese, hand cut fries, and cornbread. The bbq chicken was nice and moist. It was good! The pulled chicken was good, but some parts of it were a little bit dry. The sides were AMAZING! The hand cut fries were perfectly seasoned, and I could not stop eating them! I highly recommend the hand cut fries! The cornbread was moist and good! The Mac and cheese was really good, but that was a tiny portion! I really liked this location a lot! It's far better than Big Ed's BBQ in Matawan. The only thing is that this place needs to add desserts like Big Ed's BBQ has. I recommend adding a chocolate layer cake and a peanut butter pie like they have. The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is I prefer a more sweeter bbq sauce and more of it on my chicken then they put. I recommend Jersey Shore BBQ in...
