I have shopped this Stop and Shop often for very specific items. I am taxed for bottle returns on my kombucha bottles. They cannot be returned at the redemption center as the machines will not take them. I have dropped them off seamlessly at customer service for a couple of years. NOW the "policy" has changed due to a sloppy customer so if your bottles will not go into the machine, you have to wait on one specific person to help you with the returns who may or may not be in the store. It took me 30 minutes to make my return for a whopping $1.60. NOT worth my time. Why should I be taxed to perform an impossible task? Stores should be fined for having machines and people who will not accept returns without such a hassle. When I complained I was offered a small gift card as a consolation prize. No thank you. I'd prefer a solution over a bribe. As a result I couldn't stand to be in the store any more. I was done. I lived without my purchase I had hoped to make. In fact, I haven't been back for a month. I can't stomach the annoyance. The customer service clerk was fine, and also seemed annoyed with the policy. She called for help for me 3 times. The manager expression was struggling not to laugh at my annoyance and suggestion to solve the problem properly. I tried to comment on the website but cannot because it was not within 5 days (for the fancy contest entry.) And the feedback section with no contest entry on the S&S website doesn't work. Moral of the story...if you shop here, expect to be fined for buying certain...
Read moreI stopped by Stop & Shop in East Lyme this morning. Still so expensive and they didn't improve their vegan selections; there's actually less options. I took my few items through the carousel check out, which means there's a human cashier.
This young man wasn't just rude- he made check out very uncomfortable. He didn't respond when greeted with a smile and a hello. He wouldn't look me in the eye, and he had such a blank face. He did not say one word to me, and nearly threw my change at me. The girl who was bagging seems mortified by his behavior. My shopping companion was right behind me, and she have the exact same experience with the cashier.
She actually has to go back in the store because there was a mistake on her receipt, and the customer service representative--another young man, was almost equally as unfriendly as the cashier. He was also unconcerned and unapologetic when she explained what happened with the cashier. AND HE WAS CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Stop & Shop doesn't know what customer service is. What kind of company hires employees like this? Who does that? What manager thought it was a good idea to hire employees who obviously don't care about their jobs and who hate people?? We will never go there again, like...
Read moreI’ve been shopping at the store since the day it opened as you are only 2 miles from my house. There are a lot of great selections and the customer service is pretty good. However, last night I arrived at 9:40 to buy a few things for a birthday party today.
I noticed that two cars had pulled up and then left. I didn’t think anything of it until I got up to the doors at the produce end of the store and found that they were locked so I called the store and asked why. I was told that they randomly alternate locking the doors between the produce end of the store and the pharmacy end of the store close to closing time.
Well, that’s all fine and dandy but I’m a lone female with a heart condition and I’ve parked at the wrong end of the store late at night.
There should be large notices so customers can see and park closer to the doors that are unlocked late at night. The 2 young gentlemen manning customer service and the sole checkout were very helpful. Please address this situation so customers are not stressed out like I...
