I have to say as a skater and a person who has visited multiple USA rinks and other individual brand skating rinks that Skate city by far is a rink that needs a completely different owner as well as manager and staff. Now i’ve visited this rink multiple times over 20 years and nothing has changed about the effortless rude persona that the door and skate rental staff have. THE MUSIC: is absolutely horrible and not only horrible because im black, but horrible because as a DJ you are supposed to study music and what vibes it brings to keep to mood moving and when i say the country-bumpin, slow, no rhythm music thats being played kill the aesthetic of skating. They won’t even take requests as if “our” kind of music isn’t welcome or accepted there. The owner talks about the music not “being appropriate” but that’s a load of crap because they have “edited versions” to solve that. What about older music such as James Brown which is nationally known to be “skating music”?? But no instead of trying to expand their “Dying” business they rather stay stuck in their ways and continue to stay stubborn. The crazy part is i checked all reviews and we’re all saying the same thing. You supposed to serve the public and give us what we want, not decide for us what’s good first us to listen to. You need to take lessons from the Rink Chicago or Cascade Atlanta and maybe you can turn it around but as of now you as a snappy comment giving Owner sucks as management and a person to speak to people who out money into your pockets as such. If i could give your rink a 0 trust and...
Read moreAll the nostalgia of the 80's rinks. Pretty good size. Their pizza is good. But, the dj moved through specific skate programs too fast. There wasn't a specific time that was open skate for more than 5 minutes. Also, if a place has to say "only trust info on their website", it seems kind of shady.
EDIT: I have visited the facility many times. For you to imply that I haven't, says a lot to your character and as a business owner a little constructive criticism would very likely be taken as an open mark. Instead you took it as a slight. Then debased my review as someone who has never visited and doesn't know what I'm talking about. On the contrary, I am a Cubmaster in the Quad Cities Area and we regularly come to your establishment to skate. Discrediting me and calling me out only does you...
Read moreThis is a really nice skating facility. They have a little arcade. The food is good. The only real problem with it is their hours suck. They close so early on the weekend at like 5:00 p.m. when you want to get rid of your kids for a while and have some time. Miss the days of skate Ranch where they opened at noon and didn't close until like 2 a.m. They also charge you by the hour! Major rip off. Say what you want. You guys charge by the hour and for a parent to come in and watch the kids. Some of us do teach our kids morals, respect and responsibility. Showing your rear end there with you general statements about the kids. Also when you own a child based establishment...you kind of volunteer to babysit within reason while...
