Closets by Design - South East Pennsylvania — Local services in East Whiteland Township

Spent several months designing a large custom closes system for our Master and utilized the in home design services. The design rep was very pleasant and helpful and made 2 onsite visits to complete measurements and review the design layout. Based on what we wanted and were told we could get, we had a contactor cut our 100 year old mouldings and window trims to make the units fit as requested and designed, and as promised they would be. after the first day of installation I realized the cabinted were too small to fit the space as designed, and I called the factory and the designer immedalty, as I didn't want to waste the installers time completing a job that would need to be redone to correct this error. After about an hour on the phone with my designer, and on her and the factory's advice, we completed the install as they felt it "would look different once it was all installed" and that we should live with it and that they would adjust as needed under the warrantee. The designer assured me that the installers would take finish pictures and that they would review with the factory immediately after install to make corrections. ( I have no idea how any of this was going to make the closets larger, but followed this advice)

I have never heard from ANYONE at the factory and my install was at the end of August of 2021 (its now 11/9/2021), I have doors that are warped and do not close as well as door fronts that are peeling off the boxes. I have had numerous calls and texts with my designer and I am always told "someone will call next week" "they are short staffed" ect. excuse after excuse and I have been more that patient waiting over 2 months for anyone to call me to correct all these issues. Two weeks ago I was told the the owner of the company, some manager and my designer had a sit down to review my project and yet again, NO CALLS from anyone. If I did not constantly reach out, no one would be doing anything ( and I truly feel no one is doing anything for me).

the project ended up being over $8000.00 and I am beyond disappointed with this company and the total lack of follow through with installation issues, quality issues and total lack of communication with the end user. I was absolutely oversold on what this company could provide and although she was very nice, the designer did not measure correctly and over promised what could be made as the installers completely contradicted what the designer told me cold be done as far as the complete build out.

would not recommend this company at all, and feel that I will be forever stuck with this poorly completed project that we get to look at every morning and every night, and that I had to pay over...

We had an appointment in reference to the Mrs. and I trying to get some ideas with organizing our back bedroom which ultimately became our "junk room" (lol). On July 10, 2023 arrives Ms. Ashley Wagner to assess the situation (smile). Well the Mrs. and I were very impressed with every aspect of Ms. Wagner's visit. She arrived 5-10 minutes prior to the appointment time. Once we discussed our wants & needs, Ashley put on her thinking cap & the designing began.

I was impressed with the approach of how this would all come together: (1) What uses we had in mind, (2) The measurement of the space to be utilized, (3) Designing to perfect both of our needs. We weren't looking to do anything extravagant, but more so for functionality, however; we added a few extra nuggets for our taste (with some input from Ashley).

We can't wait for this project to come to fruition when our installation comes forward. Thanks Ashley for EVERYTHING.... We actually consider you family now as I stated to you (smile).

For those that are worrying about the costs of Closets by Design; you get what you pay for but they will definitely work within your budget depending on what your needs are & design concepts that you have. We're already thinking ahead about plans for the Mrs. in-home office and the garage (smile).

Update: The installation was done and completed on 1/15/2024, the installers were prompt; we had a 9am appointment and that's what time they arrived. It took them approximately a couple of hours to complete the installation after explaining the process to us. They guys were very efficient, clean, respectful and definitely professional. Due to the fact that I'm at work and can't recall their names, hopefuly I can update this review later with that information to include...

It has been couple weeks that we had our walk in closet done by CBD. So glad that we chose them. The finished product came out so beautiful, we couldn't be much happier. Finally an organized closet for us !!! :)

Our experience with CBD personell was very good from the start. JP (Jean-Pierre), our designer was very attentive and provided us with the right options with in the budget that we had allocated. The design was just right to maximize the small space that we have. He even honored our request for a design change session over a weekend at the design center. Our installation crew were wonderful, courteous and meticulous in their work to get the closet installation done on the scheduled date.

Lastly, I would like to mention my run-in with the owner of CBD in Exton. A few days before our installation date, I had to pick colors for my closet and wanted to take a few pictures in the design center. Went there a little late (almost closing time). All the lights were turned off and the employees were walking out. One of the associates saw me and asked me if he could help. I requested that I take a few pictures. He turned on the lights (accompanied by the sales manager), walked me through the design center while I took some pictures. I had a bunch of questions which he answered patiently and also gave me some very good design tips. Walking out, I learned that the associate that helped me all along was none other than Mr. Charles, the owner of CBD in Exton.

I truly believe that a company takes the persona of its owner and the management. No wonder our experience with CBD in Exton reflected that. I am confident that you will be very happy with the outcome of any closet design...
