As a new player, I was greeted with exceptional warmth and friendliness upon arrival. The staff and owners were not only welcoming but also expressed a genuine enthusiasm for both new and regular customers. This welcoming atmosphere extended to the regular players, who graciously showed me the ropes of the game.

My first visit was a resounding success—I not only learned how to play One Piece TCG but also secured the OP02 set immediately after participating in the pre-release. The experience was so rewarding that I returned for the OP03 release. To my delight, Portals not only remembered me but also offered the product at MSRP, a rare find given its sold-out status elsewhere. Participating in another pre-release event, I left as a satisfied customer, already looking forward to my next visit.

Fast forward to today, my excitement for the game has only grown. Despite the increasing popularity of One Piece TCG and the full capacity of local shops, Portals Games & Comics has consistently had the product in stock. My latest participation in the OP05 pre-release was yet another fantastic experience. Post-event, I spent time chatting, trading, and even secured a reservation for the upcoming OP06 set.

There is a trade off here. You won't get the old dusty and mildew smell you get with most comic shops and may have become nostalgic to. The old style of water damaged long boxes stacked on top of each other or set upon a row of tables, is replaced with custom made shelves, along with easily accessible short boxes, alphabetized, bagged, and boarded. You will no longer wonder when a comic book shop was last cleaned. I saw something I had never seen before on my last visit. An employee actually using a brand name cleaner solution to spray and wipe down all surfaces. The restroom is incredibly maintained by a business run by a bunch of millennials, and as a Gen X'er, that speaks "volumes", no pun intended, when referring to the incredible amount of Graphic Novels, both new and discounted, about the staff and the respect of their clientele. I am not really into the other many hobby interests they equally offer. I would definitely suggest you stop by. I saw model kits, card games, hundreds of Funko, a whole area devoted to the younger fans, and many selections of die, and D & D type swag. One of the best ideas I think I've only seen in one other comic shop, a devoted section for the younger audience. Portals Games & Comics is a fantastic shop for all your miniature game, board game, RPG, card, and collector needs! Friendly and knowledgeable staff that are there to help you and make you feel helped. A great layout of gaming on the left and retail on the right. Something that I love is how Wargaming is highlighted right in the center of it all and is the first play tables you see as you walk in.

Highly recommended that if you're in the area you stop by to check them out and have a chat. If you live close by, the reward their customers pretty highly by purchasing with them, showing a loyalty to the customer for shopping at your local game store. For those not close by, I'd even recommend the drive for tournaments or if you set up something with the awesome community there for a all day gaming session.
