I contacted this store via e-mail on 12/11/22 requesting a quote / estimate to repair a MTH aquarium box car, a MTH K-Line Handcar, a MTH Box Car with a voltage meter and looking for a part for a MTH WorkHouse. I sent a detailed e-mail with photos explaining what I needed done with each item. I was just looking for a general idea of cost before I sent them $30 per item for repair work. By the way, the PayPal option via their website does not work that well. I think you have to be logged into PayPal before you click the link. In any event, the next day, 12/12 I received a one sentence response that they do not provide warranty service on any product that they did not sell. I wrote them back immediately and advised that I was only looking for one item fixed under a warranty and that I was still interested in an estimate for the other two items and whether they could get me the part for item 4. It's now 12/19 and they never responded. O scale trains are an expensive hobby and there are only so many potential customers for a niche market. Apparently, The Train Doctor does not need...
Read moreI brought my Lionchief Plus 0-6-0 Hudson Milwaukee Road steam engine to the Train Doctor Shop for repair because the sounds and rear auto decoupler suddenly stopped working. After a few days they called mecand said I needed a new electronic board because part of the original board was bad. But they told me none were available and it could not be fixed. I picked up my engine and paid them the $30 plus the tax and brought it home. I did some research on line about this problem and the weak point was the wiring to the Draw-Bar Coupler. 8 removed the heat shrink off the coupler and found to broken off wires. I soldered them back on and my engine is like new again. This is something that the Train Doctor should of easily picked up on and repaired, but they just told me it was unrepairable... So i am glad that i fixed the problem, but i am totally disappointed in the So-Called...

We were all girls so dad didn’t set them up very often. I set them up infrequently as my boys were not interested. They sat years in their boxes. Storm Sandy was kind but they aged needing parts replaced, some rust repair and definitely new paint. The restoration brought them back to life. They have now been given to my grandson for his son. So now just a bit under 100 years old they will be enjoyed again. Thank you Train Doctor for the magnificent restoration. I know my dad...
