I bought 4 pairs of shorts on Tuesday 4/29 around 12:30pm-1:00pm. I did not try all 4 on I just grabbed 1 pair to see if they fit. I had a great checkout! Im not sure of his name, but he was super friendly and helpful so no complaints there. I got home and got too excited and ripped the tags off (which is my fault). I then tried them all on and a few had the gapping in the back. I googled the return/exchange policy. It said no so i was bummed but it was my fault because I ripped the tags off. I then called on Wednesday 4/30 around 12:30pm just to be sure I couldnt exchange them if a smaller size fit better. He was super nice and he told me I could exchange them if needed. I was not rude or pushy as if that is the policy that is totally fine. I would have just sold them to get alittle bit of my money back. Not a big deal. He wrote down my name and I told him I would be in on Thursday 4/1 to maybe exchange. He was very friendly abd helpful as well! I walk in around 11:15am on Thursday 4/1 and there are 2 ladies working both with dark hair. I did not get names. I make it about halfway to where I wanted to go to look at a smaller size and I hear my name. Im unsure what the one lady said, but the other lady responded with “Ryan told her she could exchange. I told him we need to uphold policy after he got off the phone. She told him she would be in today” the other lady then says “Of course she did” there was more said about upholding policy and talking not so good about their coworker. I then went up to the one lady and told her I heard what was said and that it was rude. She looked at me very funny. I then told her I wouldnt need to exchange. I just ripped the tags off when I got home and didnt try them all on yet and that some just have some gapping. She then asked if i tried curvy shorts as they dont gap but they didnt have black ones in store (im 5’6 145lbs and wear a size 4) I told her no thanks and she said “sorry about that” and I walked out. I go to American Eagle for all my short and jean needs and I have always had great experiences but this just rubbed me the wrong way. I understand there is a policy and that is why I called and if I was told no (which I was prepared to hear) I would have just sold them to get some of my money back, but to be rude while I am in the store and to talk so poorly on your coworker who was just trying to be helpful is absolutely...
