Trusty Chords Record Shop — Local services in Edwardsville

We are a punk band from Chicago, IL. We were playing a show down in St. Louis back in May. We make very little money touring/playing in the band. We love music and love checking out new record stores when we are on the road. If we see something we want, we will buy something. They had a great collection of records but a lot of the stuff is overpriced. We browsed for about a half hour, used the bathroom, didn’t see anything we wanted to buy. So we left. As we were walking out the owner said “did you really just come in here to use the bathroom?” I laughed because I thought he was joking. Surely he was joking. Nope. “Super tacky, don’t do that to small businesses.” If you have a public bathroom I figured it was fair game. We weren’t staying in a hotel so we didn’t have a place of our own to use the toilet. If we didn’t want to buy anything that is also fair. Maybe we would’ve came back and bought something next time. Definitely won’t be visiting this shop again, and we encourage people to go elsewhere. Makes me believe all the other negative reviews are completely valid. You’re not under attack, you just don’t know how to treat people. You won’t be in business much longer if you continue to treat your customers with disrespect. And when you do, we’ll make a song about it and hire a violin player to play the world’s smallest violin. Do better.

Went in there to see if I could find any records because I recently got a record player mid way through finding records I heard the owner screaming at a guy cussing him out and kicked him out of the store because he asked if there were any discounts( the store was asking almost $50 for Pablo honey). I then went to use the bathroom as soon as I got in there the owner came over and tried to pull the door down. After I came out he kicked me out without me being able to by the records I was looking for will not be going back I will go to riverbend records before I go back there. A cyber war is incoming. Update do you see what I mean about the owner of the shop. Had all night to respond and decided to be harsh and meanspirited this is not an owner that you want to even have a conversation with. Me and my friends visited this place to look at some records everything was going fine. As we were checking out, my friend was trying to use her card to pay. The man working at the counter yelled at my friend for not knowing how to use it. Keep in mind this is a card machine IVE personally never seen before. He isn’t helping instead he’s yelling and pointing. My friend comes to me for help and I have no idea what he’s talking about either so I’m no help. He said “are you stupid or something?!” To my friend who’s apologizing and almost in tears trying to get this thing to work. He ends up snatching the card and puts it to the side of the card machine and it beeps. Never seen anything like that before EVER. And he was extremely rude, we are teenagers and just needed help. He just scared us, and for what? Not knowing how to use your weird card machine....
