The greens were not bad, they probably deserve 4 stars, however due to the "rangers" on the course it created a horrible experience for us.
We decided to go there for the beginning of a bachelor party, 2 tee times (8:33 & 8:42) we finished at 1:10. We were rushed and harassed by the "rangers" on the course. We stopped 2 or 3 times for the cart lady to get drinks, they had a challenge on one hole as well that probably accounted for some extra time. The so called rangers would come up and tell us to go faster (even though we followed the people in front of us and it was impossible to go unless we hit with them in the way) yet the ranger would come up a hole later and start chatting with us about the wedding. Very mixed signals and caused frustration with both of our groups. The ranger said we were estimated to finish 15 minutes later than we should be. He stated that we were disruptive and people golfing had a right to finish their 18 holes within a 4 hour and 30 minute time frame and that we would be taking a total of 4 hours and 45 minutes to finish. I was disgusted by how the rangers treated us and how they belittled us. We are amateurs and it does take a little longer when you need to hit more times. I didn't feel we deserved the harassment. We limited our hits and didn't go looking for balls that would've been difficult to find. My tee time was 8:42pm and I was up at the office at 1:10pm (I didn't finish the 18th hole because I had enough of the ranger belittling me. Which puts my time at 4hrs and 28 minutes. So if I had finished the 18th hole I'm sure it would've been the estimated 15 minutes late for a total of 4:45 for a round of 18 holes. I'm not an avid golfer, but I've never had such a horrible experience with staff rushing you. They would constantly be there on their golf carts watching everyone swing and go. It was very distracting and annoying to have people hover over you each hole.
. I spoke with the manager and he mentioned that they had complaints in the past of people going too slow which is why the rush now. He did apologize for the bad experience I think when you go somewhere to have a good time and the overall experience is ruined by staff it puts a sour taste in your mouth. We all decided we would try somewhere else next time we are in the area and I hope that McCullough's learns to relax a bit as I can understand some people being slow however you should have some type of tolerance and 15 minutes is...

Booked a foursome directly from McCullough’s website. It was a great deal. Apparently too good of a deal. We got to the 2nd hole and the starter came out to tell us the price we paid wasn’t correct. Our choice was to keep playing and get charged that day’s rate or go in and talk to the GM for a refund. McCullough’s has always been one of oir favorite courses to play. We planned on going into the pro shop afterwards for a shirt or hat, but we won’t ever be going back again. They didn’t even consider honoring the price from their actual website. Shady business that they just charged the card without consent or signature.
REPLY TO OWNER FIRST- I was a part of the foursome playing, just not the cardholder who booked the tee time. It was YOU who was not present. You sent your starter out to talk to us. SECOND- your email received AFTER this Google Review and your reply states you attempted to call and received busy signals…because you googled numbers that haven’t existed for a decade or more BUT you never attempted to email or call the cardholders correct number prior to this Google Review! NEXT- A “glitch” on your end should have been honored regardless of the price. Doesn’t matter if it was $10, $50, or $110. How did we know it wasn’t a flash sale or special pricing? Businesses run sales all the time! The bigger question is WHY didn’t you honor your posted price, the paid price, and the email confirmed price? That’s typical practice in the consumer world. ALSO- We showed up early for the purpose to shop in the golf shop since we knew our time would be limited after. We were also given permission and the go ahead to tee off early since you had a hour+ gap with no bookings. We didn’t just go out on our own free will as you implied. AND booking online with a contactless tee time means it wasn’t necessary for us to even check in at the golf shop. Again- it was You who wasn’t present for the conversation, but your starter discussed us coming in to talk with you after the front 9 since we were already at the second hole- BUT you immediately charged a credit card based upon what you perceived as verbal, though second hand authorization, when we didn’t immediately come in. You lost out on us spending $$ on hats/polos in the golf shop, not to mention any future golf. Word of mouth and this review will let others know why the one...
Read moreI would give the course itself 4 stars. However due to the poor experience I had in booking and checking it I have to give it 2 stars. I am a senior and also held a PGA card. I have also worked at some of the finest courses in the country, some include: Pebble Beach, Haggin Oaks, Hershey CC. When you book a tee time it automatically send you to a subcontracted booking venue. I booked a tee time for 206pm. I received a confirmation number for that tee time. When I arrived at 135p for the 206p tee time, the woman was rude and said well you are late you missed your tee time. I stated why is that because I am here at least 20 min before my tee time which is proper etiquette. she stated your tee time was 1154am. I gave her my info and she was not polite whatsoever. She said she had her computer to go by and said I talked with a man to book the tee time at 630p the evening before. i told her that was not correct that tee time was booked via their service and was a woman and was made for the after 2pm (206p). She stated all the tee times were taken but she would get me out. She then would not honor the tee time price and charged me almost double what the quoted rate was. Even though the starter did not put me on the tee until 158p. So 2 min shy of the quoted rate. Additional info: I only played nine holes due to the severe wind 40mph gusts. when I completed the 9 holes I checked back in at the pro shop and same woman stated there was not a pro available for me to speak with. I wanted the pro to be advised of my poor experience. Also that I questioned if the taken tee time after 2pm was bogus. I say this as NO ONE was within 4 holes of me when I finished. Also a concern was there was not a ranger on the course. I had a twosome who actually were playing in front of me who thought they had lost a club on the 6th green. Instead of waiting for me to putt the one gentleman walked right onto the green as I was addressing my ball and said to me...wait a minute i think I lost a club....wow. NICE course but needs some...
