Delancey Street Foundation Christmas Tree Lot — Local services in El Cerrito

These guys are a great place to go for a Christmas tree. There’s a great selection of trees in all sizes, they shake off the needles, carry it to your car, and tie it on top too—they even provide the rope!

They also trim branches from the base of the tree so it’ll fit in your tree stand, then cut an inch or 2 off the bottom so it’ll suck up water and stay green longer. If you don’t have a tree stand, they have some for you to buy.

Go early because it’s always popular and crowded. PRO TIP: Find a guy to give you a tag for your tree, then have one person take that tag to the pay line while another person takes your tree to the cut line; you’ll probably both be done at the same time. This way, you don’t have to wait in a super long line to pay and THEN wait in a super long line to trim the base of the tree and carry it to your car.

The customer service is always friendly PLUS it’s a fundraiser and job training for a good cause. According to their website, Delancey Street is “a community where people with nowhere to turn, turn their lives around.”

HORRIBLE Christmas trees. Every year I would get a fresh Christmas tree at a lot down Solano, but this year I decided to try this place. Wow, it sucks so bad. I bought a tree at night, and when I got home, I realized that the tree is basically dead. Yellow and brown needles everywhere… When they sold me the tree, they could have said something. Like I’m not a tree specialist, how would I know? That’s what the Solano place would do if I didn’t pick a right one. Also, why are they even selling yellow / brown trees? Lovely operation going on here! After we decided which tree we wanted, the staff got it all tied up to go, nicely trimmed the base to fit in the tree stand and helped us check out. I'm thrilled and shocked that they were selling tree stands on site. It's easy to buy the wrong size stand, so I really appreciate accessories sold on site.
