I contacted the salesperson in June of 2022 for wind damage to my roof and Ruidoso New Mexico. Salesperson came out, was wonderful, explain the process that Mountain Star roofing would be using in order to get my roof fixed. Part of it was contacting the insurance company for any upgrades that are needed. I was asked to give a large down payment to get the job started, which I gave. The check was written July 5th 2022. Fast forward to August. I still hadn't heard anything from the roofing company, other than an email for receipt of payment. Once I contacted the roofing company, they told me they were going to be with me shortly and that they knew I was waiting for work. We had a few conversations in August, but nothing had been done. They told me they were waiting on the insurance company. My contract was written to do the work within the "scope of payment" for the insurance company. September 2022, I contact the company, to no avail. They were not doing anything in order to get anything on my roof done, no one had come up, no one had reached out to me at all. The roofing company then told me that they thought it was going to be a $40,000 job, and this is for a roof that is 32 squares.I went to the company to get a refund of my money since they weren't doing the job. They gave me a check for 35% less than what I gave them, stating clause 5 in the contract that I have violated the contract so therefore they keep 35%. I did not take the check I told them I simply wanted my roof repaired. Later in September someone said they were going to come look at my roof, no one did. In October I contact them to get an update on the status of the repairs to my roof...keep in mind no one has been out to see it, and no one has contacted me. I was told I was issued a refund. When I asked how much the refund was, no one knew. I was told that the refund check was written around October 7th or 8th, and had been mailed out. On October 22nd I received the check. That is after I had to call the company again, and ask where my money was. They told me it had been mailed out last week. When I received the check on October 22nd, the postmarked envelope was for October 20th. In addition, the check was for 35% less than what I originally gave this company! With a statement saying I canceled the contract; per clause 5 they will keep 35% of my money. I NEVER canceled the contract. I believe the owner, Randy, decided that he wasn't going to do the job and is now stealing from me. I am a single woman with a home in Ruidoso New Mexico who needs her roof fixed. That's all I've ever asked this company to do. Ruidoso, New Mexico had an extremely wet summer 2022 and I now have leaks in my house, and winter is fast approaching. My carport is leaking horribly and is about ready to fall in, along with one of my patio roofs, which was falling in and dangerous to me. This company is not accredited by the better Business bureau as is stated on their website. The owner, Randy, is non-responsive and a crook. I have reported this company to both the New Mexico and Texas attorney generals. Consumers beware, I wouldn't use this company at all. I can't say they do bad work because they never did any. But I can say that they are unethical and they...
Read moreRating this company a one star is far too generous for what they deserve. I am extremely disappointed with Mountain Star Roofing Systems, the contractor that American Home Shield (AHS) sent to fulfill our work order. AHS is an insurance provider that covers additional items not included in standard insurance policies. We got the contract with AHS due to some damages to our roof, but they failed to deliver on their promises, prompting us to cancel the contract and anything associated with them. Despite my repeated instructions and directives made to mountain star (contractor hired by AHS) to stay off my property they disregarded them and proceeded to access my roof making a mess out of it. This was done when no one was home on a cancelled contract, and without having the decency to notifying my husband or myself. This was done only with the intention to charge AHS 500 dollars. This blatant disregard for customer instructions shows how desperate they are for easy money at all costs. Manager, Randy, was arrogant and dismissive, which is likely why they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. It is clear that losing a customer over 500 dollars is how they operate.Thankfully, we found AAAA Contractor Roofing, Mr. Nieto did an amazing job and truly listened to our needs. I strongly recommend avoiding Mountain Star and taking your business elsewhere to prevent a negative experience.
My Response to your apology: The DISMISSAL occurred because I DID NOT PAY YOU anything out of pocket. Remember, you were in such a hurry to get on my roof and invoice AHS, which played a key role in the judge's decision. However, I still have 21 days to bring this back to court regarding your unauthorized entry onto my property.
Please respect my boundaries and refrain from entering my property at any time. It's quite something how your company specializes in unannounced visits despite my clear instructions to stay out of my property. Oh, wait, let me paraphrase your exact words: You don't deal with clients directly, right? You just show up because it's the norm. Well, according to AHS âs contract (page 2, section C), YOU MUST contact the client prior to entering the property let alone performing any work without the client's authorization.
AHS themselves confirmed that failing to contact the client before performing a job can be considered trespassing. Your entry onto my property was unjustified, especially since I had canceled my contract with AHS and everything associated with them which includes YOU and YOUR company. Yet, you still entered my property without permission and made a mess of my roof, all just for a few dollars. This explains why you had no idea of what our needs were. I reiterate avoid this company to prevent a...
Read moreAfter sustaining hail damage to our all shingle roof, Mountain Star Roofing worked directly with our insurance company and the adjuster to complete a re-roofing of our historic home using black shingles on the upper roof and black metal on the lower roof. They sought permission to record a time lapse of the entire project. We do not have a driveway adjacent to our home to which a dumpster could be pulled up, so they draped the entire perimeter walls and flower beds with heavy mesh printed with their logo (very professional) to catch all of the debris and neatly haul it away. They used a magnetic roller throughout the property to catch any nails that may have landed outside the mesh. They kept a close watch on the weather, so much so, that when their vendor sent the wrong fasteners and two damaged pieces for the metal roof, they used temporary fasteners to ensure the roof could be installed to protect the home from impending rain while they awaited replacement parts. Part of this work was done after hours in the late evening. They worked closely with their vendor, and even with the minor setback, which was no fault of their own, they completed the project in a week's time, arriving between 7 and 8 A.M. every morning and working a full day. They took such pride in their work, they returned to take areal footage of the completed project using their drone. I highly recommend Mountain Star Roofing Systems and know that, so far, at least one of our close friends is using them to re-roof her home in Kern Place after...
