Decent place to shop, bad place to sell/work. The prices here are cheap, but that’s basically all GameXChange has going for it. The best selection will be in the DVDs, CDs, and other low-value items that the store has an abundance of. If something of value comes in, you’d better get it right away, because chances are it’ll sell quickly, especially if one of the employees purchases it first. Oh, and remember that if you need a refund, you’ll get it in store credit, not cash. Now, it’s a bad place to sell things, because the reason everything used is so cheap to buy is that it’s bought at 20-30% of the market value. So if you bring in a $200 console, GameXChange gives you $60. Plus, there are usually two people working at any given day, at most three, and a whole process they have to go through for selling, so you’ll probably be standing there for a few hours if you’re selling a bunch of stuff at once. Bad place to work because you only get paid $9 an hour. The easy part is the customer service, but you also have to complete extra tasks they come up with for you to do so you don’t have any free time while you’re working. Lunch is 30 minutes for a 6-hour shift, and most employees sit on the floor behind the counter because the backroom is too small, especially with inventory, and there’s no working chair. Employee discount is only 10% on used items only and a manager has to be present during the purchase. It’ll also take them about a week or two to...
Read morea modest store brimming with all sort of good finds.
I honestly wasn't even going to pop in here, but it was right next to the Starbucks and I had 15 minutes to kill and honestly, I'm so glad that I did!
The store is not massive, but there are so many things from dvds to consoles to funkos that there doesn't seem to be a single inch of wasted space. Probably the most surprising thing is that the displays were neat and the carpets were actually clean. The g/s by my house has the worst stained carpeting I have ever seen and I know these places get a lot of foot traffic so I was pleasantly surprised by this.
Upon entering I was greeted by Sunny and Syd who turned out to be a godsend. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not too into gaming or anime and they were patient and helpful as I showed them pictures of the characters my cousin had wearing recently (turns out it was Jojo and Juju something but they helped me find a book and keychain, so that was a breeze to find a gift.)
And don't be dissuaded from stopping by even if you aren't really into games like me, they had a lot of posters (I saw a frank ocean blond one that i'm dying to go back for) and dvds that will easily pad my boyfriends horror dvd...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend doing any large purchases here. Their return policy is rather anti-consumer. You will not get your money back. If you're lucky you'll get store credit but given their lack of quality control that's laughable.
They claim they clean and inspect everything prior to sale but we were sold the wrong power adapter, a defective controller, another defective controller, and, yes, another defective controller. All in all we had to go back into the store 3 times in less than a week due to them selling us broken items. We eventually just gave up and accepted the loss on the last controller.
If you're buying a console thoroughly inspect it to make sure everything in the bag works with your console. Inspect the vents as well. They attempted to sell me one with literal brown caked dust in all the vents and USB ports.
Their used game prices are decent which is good because in all honesty I wouldn't recommend spending any more money than you're comfortable just...
