Steak ’n Shake — Restaurant in Elizabethtown

If your looking for a burger or a variety of burgers and dont mind waiting a bit, this is an ok establishment to visit. If your expecting good customer service dont waste your time. We stood at the entrance for ten minutes, employees walked past us and not a one acknowledged us. No one said be right with you or anything. So we left. The day before we visited and the service was simply slow. I will not visit this place again anytime soon.

UPDATE FROM 7.27.2019 It was packed. We waited 5 minutes to be seated. The table was dirty. The waitress asked if we seated ourselves.... really? It took 10 minutes to get drinks. When mentioned the table was dirty could it please be cleaned off you would have thought we cursed at the waitress (the way she looked at us). Alot of discombobulation going on between staff and the overall operation of the restaurant. Refills took time (at least 5 to 10 minutes) to get. The drink glass was dirty.

The food was wrong the burger was cold and didnt include the condiments we ordered and fries cold and wrong, then they had to bring another order of fries and those were just as pitiful. The garlic burger is what was ordered, it was not impressive at all. I should have had a quarter pounder from a fast food restaurant, it would have been fresher and better. One meal was supposed to come with a cookie... we never got that or the slaw. Couldn't get more refills we had to ask and wait for at least 5 minutes. No silverware or no napkins even after asking twice. Silverware was dirty too.

On the brighter side the sweet tea was good.

Overall not my favorite spot and even though I continue to be hopeful that service will improve, it has and obviously will not. I am beyond surprise amount of business they get, even in an hour for the poor customer service and subpar food. Don't go when they are busy. This restaurant needs a serious overhaul....

Only wish I could give a zero! Not busy at all. We stood and waited to be seated for an unreasonable time. One of the waiters took longer to wipe down a table than I imagined possible. It took at least 25 minutes to receive our drinks, and I am not talking shakes; cokes and tea. It took an additional 18 minutes to get our food. I sat there watching while various wait staffers passed it by. When I caught the eye of one, she decided to bring it to our table with the help of another...not our waitress though. At that time, I again asked for utensils and napkins. Not only were three of the six orders wrong, the food was cold! I finally walked over to get our napkins and utensils, to find our waitress wrapping our utensils in napkins. Yes, at the point I responded that we didn't need them wrapped; we just needed them!

In the hour we were there, most of the time waiting on drink and food, we saw our waitress manage to only hand out about 12 soda and/or tea beverages. We had planned to get milk shakes on our way out but weren't inclined to forfeit anymore of our time that we could never get back!

When our waitress finally made an appearance and inquired if everything was good, I asked to speak to the manager. I will wrap up by saying, he was clearly part of the problem with this monumentally mismanaged business. The waitress notes were correct, which meant the "chef" was at fault for the incorrect orders. And the manager was manning the grill, soooooo....And as the cook AND manager, he should have lit a fire under the waitress to get the food served.

Overall, worst Shake and...

I went thru the drive thru on Saturday , I ordered 2 double cheeseburger meals with everything on them adding mustard and no onion on one of them . I ordered an additional medium fry . I got home and burgers were wrong and I only had 2 fries instead of 3. I drove back , went through drive thru again because inside was closed . I got up to window , told cashier the issue and she told owner who couldn't hardly speak English. Owner brought out my food and said " here I put codinments in container so we won't get your food wrong ". My burgers were In bag but again this time no fries . I asked where the fries were and owner said " you didn't get your fries "? No I didn't . Owner went back inside to get fries and in mean time I called to ask what was going on ? A guy answered the phone and said " in a mean tone high voice your fries are coming and have a nice day being really mean with a high mean tone . I proceeded back thru to window and gave them the food back and just asked for money because of the horrible treatment m I was then told to get off their property and that I wasn't getting my money back and that the cops were being called . This place is the worst business ever , horrible customer service and not to mention I could see kids running around the restaurant on the inside , they were on the tables and even playing . While being at the drive thru window the kids were loudly screaming and it was even hard for me to hear...
