SALESCLERK SADIE WAS RUDE AND HAS A VERY UNPLEASANT DEMEANOR! When I asked her if the Ken Sheldon collection was on sale, she didn't know which one I'm talking about so I showed her, and after she looked at the collection, she said, "No, it's not on sale!" and turned her back right away, and I'm not even done asking her about the collection. I figured she must be busy with other customers so I just let it go and went on to choose the cards that I needed to buy. Then before I checked out, I decided to use their washroom so I asked the other Salesclerk at the counter for directions and she said just wait for the other lady to come out near the exit so I headed towards there. On my way I met this Sadie again and I realized she's the one who's just coming out of the washroom. I told her if I can use their washroom and the lady in the front told me to wait by the Exit. At first she smiled as I was going towards her but then her face turned sour when I asked her if I could use the washroom. Like it was such a a big trouble for her! With a displeased tone she told me where the washroom is and where the light is at but didn't even acknowledged when I said thank you. Finally when I was checking out, unfortunately it's this Sadie who was the one available. I heard her ask the senior female caucasian whom she checked out ahead of me, if the customer have a Hallmark card and if she wanted the Hallmark stickers, and ended the transaction with thank you and have a great day. When it was my turn to check out, I handed her the cards I'm buying. She didn't even ask if I have Hallmark card! So I just handed it to her, but she didn't even say, "Ok" or "Thank you". I was sniffing the box of soaps on the counter and she said, "They all have the same scent!" Her tone sounded like I'm a kid who's misbehaving that she can't stand! So I just told her, it does smell good. Finally when she ended the transaction, she handed me the paper bag and coldly said thank you without even looking at me. I looked inside the bag and saw that she didn't give me any stickers so I asked her for some. She handed me a strip of gold stickers without even saying thank you or have a nice day, just like she treated the previous customer ahead of me. It made me wonder, why her treatment of me and the way she looked and addressed me was very unpleasant! Was it because I am not caucasian compared to the other customers that she was very friendly to? I never had any bad experience like this at Amy's Hallmark in Des Plaines, which had already closed unfortunately. This is only my 2nd or 3rd visit here coz it's quite out of the way from my usual routine but I have no choice. I was totally turned off by this Salesclerk's attitude. If she's already tired of her job she should just retire because she's old and cranky anyway. I have no intention of ever coming back to this branch! What an annoying half an hour...
Read moreI normally dont do reviews, but I had very unsettling shopping experience at this Hallmark. The store was packed with customers and I was shopping around for an ornament. I was in the store for about 15 minutes holding 2 items in my hands that I wanted to purchase, an ornament and a stationary set. I was approached by a salesperson who asked if I wanted her to place my items on the counter so I didn't have to carry them around (the whole .001 lbs of it). I handed her the items. I shopped for about another 15 more minutes and picked up a few more items to purchase. This salesperson did not ask any of customers shopping if they needed their items placed up front by the registers.
