My wife and I went in to buy a new mattress we were "helped" by a salesman named Mark D. We told him that we were looking to buy a bed that would last and be worth our investment. I told him that I have a bad back and I do not sleep well. He proceeded to show us the cheapest options in the front that should fit into our "budget". The beds were like $700 and under. We never once mentioned a budget to him. We had looked online at the prices, had done research on a bed that might be a good option, and specifically came in to a location that sold Temperpedic beds because we had heard great things from friends and family. We were expecting to spend 3-4 thousand on the mattress, bed, and anything we needed to have a great night's sleep. Unfortunately, since we are visibly young he just assumed we didn't have the money to invest in a nice bed. Finally, after laying on multiple beds and mentioning Temperpedic mattresses, we were shown the bed and adjustable base we went in to see. He showed us the "cheapest" version of this first too. We got some pricing from him for a Temperpedic mattress setup like we had originally wanted.
My wife walked away to answer a phone call and he decided it was an opportune time to ask me if I snowmobile, I say no but my friends do. He proceeded to give me a business card for his AmsOil business and told me if my friends or I ever need oil to call him and he will hook us up. If I was looking for someone to purchase oil from, I would have gone to O'Reillys not a furniture store.
When we first went to him for help he was playing Clash of Clans on his phone and when he went to show us the app for the adjustable base the Clash of Clans game was still open. As a former salesman myself, I can say the whole sales experience was just off-putting and extremely unprofessional from the beginning.
When our experience was close to being done and we weren't making an official decision yet because we wanted to think on it before spending that large amount of money he said "I am off Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. If you come back on any of those days you'll have to work with our other salesman. But, remember, we are paid on commission." That was our final decision to take our business elsewhere.
We were able to purchase our mattress and setup at a different Furniture Mart location. We received wonderful service and they listened to exactly what we needed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to the Elk River location for our...
Read moreI will try my best to give this review the true measure it deserves. I came into the store looking for a very cheap piece of furniture, I am in the process of buying a new home, thought I’d be temporarily living somewhere else and sold the furniture that I had. I was now in the unlucky position of having to replace my sofa with something to just “get me by!” I walked in and was greeted by Cody, he introduced himself, we spoke a bit about what brought me in and then he said,” I can see you want to kind of do your own thing.” (Was it that obvious? Ha ha) My guard was up, inside I was embarrassed at I was there looking for the cheapest furniture possible and a bit embarrassed about my own life choices. In that moment of Cody understanding my need for space and his kindness, i immediately warmed up. He walked me around, we looked at options talked about things and then I walked around a bit myself. I came back the next day with my daughter and picked out a cheap couch to get me by. Every single second Cody treated me as if I were buying a whole beautiful home full of furniture. I was honest, kind, respectful and never once was I treated like I was buying the cheapest couch on the floor. I know he made nothing on my sale but he still took ALL the time to help me. I would recommend Cody D 100%. Life doesn’t always go the way we think it might but it’s those people that come into the uncomfortable journeys that help us! That’s Cody! I’m thankful he was...
Read moreWe just purchased a home and were looking for furniture for awhile now. We went into furniture mart last Saturday to see what they had. Andrew Robinson greeted us when we walked in the door. He told us where everything was, told us to kick tires and try out as many as we wanted. He'd come back when we were ready. When we walked in we really only knew that we wanted recliners. We had settled on a few different options and Andrew wrote it all up for us to go home and think about it. We were looking over the Furniture Mart Black Friday ad and noticed some options we liked. We came back today and Andrew greeted us, let us know where some of the options were that we liked from the ad. We ended up getting a new living room set, dining room and tv stand. If I ever need furniture again or know someone who does, I will send them Andrew's way. He was fair, honest and not pushy, hard characteristics to find in a salesperson these days! Thanks again Andrew for helping us make our home...
