So I came to the shop with a pile I mean a pile of problems! So Don't underestimate, my review! 2009 VW Tiguan AWD 4-motion S.E.L. ! I had her towed to," The Shop " about 2 months ago! The Tiguan, just wouldn't start on the coldest day of the winter so far in December! Tried troubleshooting myself! (I'm kind of a hack still & learning as I go!) I myself replaced, all the fuses in the Engine Compartment & Thee Passenger Fuse box! Replaced the coil packs & Spark-Plugs. I even bought a new battery etc! Still wont start! Long story short! These guy's might have taken forever to get me my vehicle back after over a month! But they Had quoted me 400$ or a little or allot more but would keep me posted if they had to go past that 400 mark and they did! They did contact me n keep me up to date! As did I! I called in & even stopped in one day to bug em & see what was going on! They literally NEVER GAVE UP on my vehicle & I believe they would've finally figured it out! They decided since they've had it for so long that they were not going to charge me the $400! But had put well into 1000s of dollars worth of time & tests and would have to start charging me from here on out! I thought that was the RIGHT thing to do as I own a business as well and would have done the same! So That was very nice of these guys! Needless to say I think this place would be great for more American cars or WAY less headache vehicles! Like VW( Didnt realize what I was getting into with VW)! So....overall, I would trust these guys with your vehicle, just don't bring them a massive massive foreign headache, like I brought them! It's very overwhelming to say the least, take it to the dealership of that brand of vehicle! My Tiguan was fixed in a little over a day after I got it to the VW dealership & had a 15 year Vet of VW head mechanic work on her! So if the shop is reading this, I appreciate you guys not charging me & your time! I wish we would've figured it out but we didn't and you know what?? That's ok too! I figured I would leave you guys a little review for that! I don't mean any disrespect w/ my review!! I was treated very well here! Nice people and adults working here! -1 â...
Read moreI have been a dedicated customer at The Shop for about 3 years, but after our last experience there, I will not be returning.
We had an appointment for a winter tire swap which they said would take an hour. After my wife waited with two young kids for over an hour, she discovered that they not only didn't have the tire swap complete, they hadn't even brought our vehicle even into the garage because they seemingly spaced it.
Once they finally pulled our vehicle in, they said they couldn't find the spare tire. My wife told them it's located inside the vehicle (which is the case for a Honda Odyssey) and then they sat there and argued with my wife about how the spare tire is always located outside the vehicle. After physically proving to them that the spare is located inside the vehicle under the floorboard, they told my wife that SHE needed to remove the seats so they could access it. The floorboard with the spare is designed to be accessed without having to remove any seats, just as I have done several times in the past without issue. I don't know if these guys were having a bad day or just feeling straight up lazy, but handling the situation in the way they did is unacceptable.
On top of our recent bad experience, I recently started getting quotes from several other auto shops to compare the quoted prices from The Shops and found that The Shop charges almost 2-3 times the material and labor costs of other shops in the area.
Bottom line, this place has gone downhill since I first started going there. I no longer have trust in this team, and I don't want anyone I don't trust working on...
Read moreBrought my car here to get fixed with a third party warranty. I was told they would take care of it and noooooo issues with this. They got a hold of the warranty company and the shop told me I still owed another almost 1900.00 out of my pocket. Bryan the manager here was extremely rude to us. I asked him if he could work a little on the price because that seemed excessive with what the warranty company paid and what they were going to charge. They tore down my car and still charged me 380.00 just to diagnose the car. I eventually told them no not to work on it and had a tow company haul it to another company in Maplegrove where all I was charged was my deductible of 150.00. Please tell me how one company like The Shop in Elk River can charge that amount and another company be so friendly and professional. Never ever bring your car to The Shop in Elk River or deal with Bryan. Very disappointed and was very taken back on how I was treated. I hope the owner doesn't condone this behavior or service. I was basically taken advantage of for 380.00 and was told I have to pay my guys somehow. Zero customer service from Bryan. Never bring your car here please do not. Take it from me if you don't want to be taken advantage of. When you think your dealing with a nice local company your trying to support you definitely are not with The Shop. I went from what would be a 1700.00-1900.00 bill plus the 380.00 I already paid them to only paying my 150.00 deductible and great customer service at another repair shop. I am looking for a call back from the owner to discuss this...
