We went here to buy my husband some much needed shoes. He was born with club foot which has left him with the disability of having two very different sized feet (one size 11, one size 14). We used to go to the columbia location and they would give him 50% off the cost because we have to buy two pairs of shoes but only need one. This time the manager told the sales associate over their headsets that they would not give us a discount so we asked to speak with her. As soon as she came up to us she seemed defensive and told us they do not give discounts even for my husband's deformity. When we told her the columbia location did, she said " Oh that must have been Dave. He no longer works for the company." She eventually did give us a discount very begrudgingly stating, "Only this time." She even shared that a man in a wheelchair buying shoes asked for a discount because he wouldn't walk on them. I feel her attitude towards those with disabilities/ deformities is demeaning and belittling. Her anecdotal conversation was unprofessional as we did not need to know the other managers business or employment status. The story about the man in the wheelchair was completely uncessesary as it spoke to her lack if respect for those who have physical differences. We will no longer shop at this store. We will go to stores that respect my husband's difference and are willing to work with us in a positive manner. We will be contacting Dick's corporate offices and will update our review pending...
Read moreI brought my grandchildren to buy whatever they wanted. We stood in the children's section of the shoe department for at least 20 minutes without being approached by any staff. I then stood in the areaway leading to the stockroom until finally a young man asked if I needed help. I showed him a shoe my grandson was interested in and he disappeared into the stockroom only to emerge some 10 minutes later in a hurry for the front of the store. I again stood in the areaway with the shoe of interest until another employee came out of the stockroom and asked if I needed help. I showed him the shoe my grandson had picked out and In a tone of voice I can only describe as condescending I was told that I was holding a ladies shoe. Embarrassed and...
Read morePurchased a basketball hoop and paid extra for it to be picked up at the store and installed at my home. I took off work the day they were set to come do the work. When the third party company arrived to get the hoop, it was buried under a bunch of other heavy boxes and they couldn’t get to it so the installers cancelled the appointment. I then called Dick’s and the installation company several times over the next week to get a new date to have them come back. Nobody could help me with this and I was told it’s a busy time of year for hoop installations and I’d just have to wait. They provided no apology for screwing up the initial pickup and did nothing to help me get a new installation date. I will be asking for a refund and...
