Update (January 2025): David from the maintenance team is AMAZING!!! He is always kind, reliable, and super responsive to any issues that I've submitted service request for. Thank you for all your help!!
Update: Itâs been over half a year since I moved in, and Iâm absolutely in love with Avalon Public Market! Martha and Julius from the leasing office are such sweet human beings and so fun to be around. Whenever I talk to them, they are always super kind and supportive :) David from the maintenance team has also been super reliable and amazing! He always follows up with my maintenance requests, which I havenât had many, very soon after I submit them, and fixes everything so well. My sink had a leakage earlier this week and I thought this was gonna take a while since they needed to find a professional plumber to do the work, but David was so on top of everything! He helped me seal the leaks temporarily and found someone to come in and replace my sink within two days. Heâs also super friendly and always says hi to my fur babies when he comes by. Thank you so much!
Iâm a new resident and Iâm already in love with Avalon Public Market. The property itself is simply gorgeous, from the beautiful lounges (thereâs a rooftop lounge that you can overlook the bay from!) and the state-of-the-art gym, to the cute outdoor entertainment space and the pool, to the bright and carefully maintained apartments themselves. In addition, the surroundings feel quite safe and Emeryville itself is just a very cute place to walk around, with the Public Market being literally within five-minute walking distance from the apartment building. The buildingâs security system is quite impressive and I feel very safe with the controlled access through the gates, the double-gated garage, and the secure locker hub and locker room.
As much as I love the building itself and what it offers, what made me immediately want to be a part of the Avalon Public Market community is definitely the people at the leasing office. It has been such a blessing to work with Martha, who has been so kind, supportive, responsive, patient, and just all-around amazing since Day 1. I was looking to move last minute and had a gazillion questions as I toured the apartment, but Martha was so sweet and patiently took the time to walk me through everything, which helped tremendously with all the anxiety I had had about the move. When I needed a couple things to be updated on my lease, she was fast with having a new lease created and gave assurance along the whole process. When I came to pick up the keys, Martha did not only show me around the apartment again and explain in details how I would access places, etc., but she also made sure that I was comfortable with using the keys and had fully learned how to access the building and my apartment before she went back to the office. Through all these interactions, I really have felt cared for by Martha and am even more excited about the prospect of becoming a resident here because of her kindness and support. Itâs so apparent that she and the rest of the leasing team truly care about making the community feel like home for all the residents and are there to support whenever you need. Thank you so much...
Read moreStephanie and Julius in the leasing office are very cordial and understanding. They helped me resolve my parking situation when I first moved in. I wasn't comfortable with using the stacker parking, however there was a waiting list for standard parking (I've spent the last 6 years in NYC and I've driven for 10 years before that, but I'm not as strong a driver as I used to be). We tried larger stacker spots and even compact spots. We didn't want to be difficult, but Stephanie and Julius worked with us on this issue and finally told us we were allowed to utilize the outdoor standard parking in the other Avalon building across the street, which was perfect! I was so appreciative and grateful of the time and effort they spent in helping us as we were very hesitant to resort to street parking.
The complex is situated 1 block from a small park and 1 block from Public Market (urban food hall). There is a convenient Emery Go Round shuttle that you can take to Bay St shopping center, Target, Trader Joe's, BART MacArthur station, and other nearby shops.
The complex also sits 1 block from the Amtrak train. Fortunately, I live on the side of the building that is far away from the train so it's not as bothersome; it's at most a muffled horn sound every now and then. It's a bit louder on the side facing the train however not by much.
The leasing office is open 4 days a week and communication with them is through the Resident App. I prefer in-person communication, but they're very busy and answering requests on the app is more efficient. My requests have been answered within 24 hours so far.
I got lucky with my neighbors on my floor and I never hear them. However, my upstairs neighbor seems to be nocturnal and very active in the late hours.. lots of opening and closing drawers between 9 pm and 3 am... I can see it being bothersome to some but having lived in NYC for many years, as long as I don't hear them talking on the phone or throwing a rager, then it's good enough.
Small packages are placed in an Amazon Hub locker and oversized packages are placed in its own separate room which also contains a fridge for grocery deliveries. I can have peace of mind that my packages will not be stolen!
As someone who really needs to get a good night's sleep for work the next day, I really like how there are mandated quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am. We're required not to use our washing machine and dryer during this time, and we can call courtesy patrol if we experience loud neighbors.
Tenants are polite and respectful. They range from families with small kids to Cal students to young...

Julius and Wendy are great property and community managers, Dave G. is amazing and provides great maintenance service. Vianey is SO nice and keeps this place clean and smelling nice.
Julius helped us in our search for a 2bd/2ba, we looked at SEVERAL communities in Berkeley and Emeryville but after 3 months of searching we decided to stay and move into a larger unit. If you are a dog owner this is a great community, probably the best I've ever experienced. You'll find many pets and families here. Julius is thoughtful and cares about resident's experience. What we like about Avalon PM, the gym is great, hardwood floors throughout the unit (easy to clean), nice appliances, and management is the best.
NO issues with bugs or trash smells. Our current unit is on the top floor but my old unit (2.5 years) did NOT have any issues with smells or bug, I lived 3rd floor above the garage floor, windows facing the train tracks, right next to the trash chute, and never had any bug or trash smells. I feel for the residents that experienced this but was never an issue for me. When I was on the 3rd floor, yes you can hear your neighbors walk but THAT IS NORMAL. Median home price in SF Bay Area is $1.44 million, which is a 15.5% increase from the previous year, I can handle hearing my neighbors LOL...
1/21/2023 Update: Maintenance is great here, you use an app to submit tickets and it's really easy to get a hold of the maintain crew. Really friendly service members. They are fast and patient with any issues you may have. Really great community especially if you're living by yourself.
2021: Love it here! Leady Castillo is the best. She always welcomes you home and makes the whole process very easy. Maintenance is wonderful, prompt, and friendly. The units are up-to-date and modern, equipped with high quality appliances and finishes so, you rarely need Maintenance at all. But it's nice to know if you do need them. They'll be there and handle your needs quickly and professionally. This is a great community, extremely dog friendly (the best) and everyone has pet meet ups at the nearby park. They keep the surrounding area clean as well, you'll never see garbage piles, big contrast to Berkeley. Also, neighbors are polite and respect the COVID Protocols....
