We visited Rady Childrenâs Hospital after waiting almost three months for an ophthalmology appointment. Unfortunately, our toddler had a fever and watery eyes on the same day, and was very cranky and unwell. At check-in, we requested to reschedule, but the assistant told us it would take another six months, so the only option with us is to go ahead with the visit. Ideally, they should have rescheduled our appointment to the quickest next appointment but they didn't care. Following that, the medical assistant seemed unsympathetic to our situation and didnât perform the pre tests thoroughly since our daughter wasnât cooperating well. She was quick to fill out the information even if it was not taken the right way because of a sick child.
After a long wait, Dr. Bansal came in but only spent around 5 minutes with us. To our shock, she immediately prescribed glasses through her quick assessment. As parents, we had many questions regarding our kid's issue and whether this necessitate glasses and if it could improve with age, whether there were alternatives such as eye drops, patches, diet, or preventive care but her only response was: âI know you want me to say your child will be fine as they grow, but I canât promise or guarantee that. Itâs just how their eyes are, like shoe size, YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT."
Dr.Bansal's rushed explanation left us feeling dismissed, anxious, and confused. The âshoe sizeâ comparison felt insensitive and unhelpful. We expected at least some reassurance, guidance on preventive care, or information about typical eye development in children. Instead, we left more worried than before, and the experience has continued to cause us stress and sleepless nights.
Overall, we felt the visit was rushed, lacking empathy, and that our concerns as parents were not taken seriously. It left us feeling that coming to Radyâs was a mistake. WOULD HIGHLY ENCOURAGE ALL THE DOCTORS TO BE A LITTLE MORE EMPHATIC AND CONCERNED ABOUT THESE LITTLE LIVES THAT THEY...
Read moreI would honestly leave this hospital (their ER department) Zero stars if I could. I took my 7 month old daughter at the time to the ER because she was running a 104.6 temp. I told them she had been tugging at her ear and sick all day. I told them ear infection because I knew the symptoms. She had them all. I suffered from them as a kid. They brushed off my comments and ruled out ear infection and correlated the ear tugging to teething. She wasnât actively teething at the time. The sent us home with the diagnosis of viral infection. Even though they couldnât see her eardrum to see if there was fluid there or not because she had âbuilt up waxâ. I was there for 4.5hrs. To be misdiagnosed. They sent me home to give her Motrin 4.5ml ... the dosage for her weight for CHILDRENS Motrin. I had an infant. What do you think I gave her? Infants Motrin!! They did not specify. Being a first time, scared mom (this was in the midst of COVID outbreak last year), I just listened without question until it seemed wrong that I was needing to fill the 1.875 infant Motrin more than 2 times to give her the right dose. I then checked and I was literally overdosing her for 24hrs. We had to contact poison control and all. The next day, her fever was still not going back down. She was still tugging her ear. I made my husband take her in because I felt they mightâve been biased against me as a young mom just being paranoid. My husband told the doctor to clean her ears right away. They did that and actually checked her ears... turned out she did had an ear infection after all. Always trust your gut and parent instinct. I disputed the charge for the first visit. They did not agree with my dispute and sent me to collections without warning or notice of the dispute decision. Here I am a year later still dealing with...
Read moreI took my son this summer as an emergency to the ER . We were there out of state (tx) due to the lack of resources we have in our town I decided taking him there since we lived there before. My son was struggling with seizures from a year and 2 months and here in Texas not single neurologist or endocrinologist was able to tell me what was going on. My son was admitted to Rady's as an emergency due to seizures were not normal and he was having them very often almost everyday. Went to Rady's and thank GOD FOR THE NEURO AND ENDOC Dept.!! My son was treated and in 3 days he was SEIZURE FREE thanks to the treatment they were able to provide him there. I am more than thankful for such a wonderful team and caring professionals for my son. I was miserable seeing my child literally thinking I was gonna loose him . This was my worst parent experience I do not wish to anyone go through this seeing your child suffering. I'd say Nurse staff was Ok. and cant say much of them cause we had different ones during our stay, and we had different types of treatments from them. Other than that THANK YOU RADY'S FOR SAVING MY SON!!! I will forever grateful for these doctors and team that put up a plan for my son's healing. GOD BLESS! & Thanks for all the help!
These is my honest review from a desperate mother that thought was loosing hope.
