I would avoid Macy's in general. I have been a Macy's card member for years and shopped there in an attempt to preserve local jobs (as opposed to shopping online).
My issue started with Macy's when my wife used my card December 2016 to purchase several things as gifts, using the card for a discount. She forgot to tell me and due to a KNOWN billing issue that Macy's is AWARE of (I have an email explaining it that I would be happy to show), I never received any bill of any kind. Instead, I received delinquency calls several months later. Shocked, I paid the bill quickly over the phone after she informed me that she forgot to tell me about the bill.
As said above, no emails or letters were received by Macy's at this time due to the known billing error that they informed me of after the fact.
I then contacted Macy's about the issue and wished that they extended my credit line back to the original amount and removed the mark from my credit score. After nine (9) months of calling, and getting a constant run around with their terrible customer service, and multiple complaints via their website, I was informed that they had implemented a new system during that time that caused known issues but that they were not responsible. Since I paid my bill and did not dispute it, they would not remove the delinquency due to "internal policies."
This must be the worst customer service EVER. I have been a credit card member of theirs for years and always paid my bills on-time and in full. This sort of service is exactly why they are losing customers every year to Amazon and online services. They cannot compete and it shows.
I will never shop here again and will tell anyone and everyone who will listen just how poorly they treat...

I want to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service I received at the Macys store, Escondido location.
I purchased a pair of sunglasses for my husband, which he did not like. I attempted to return them TWO DAYS later, only to be met with unreasonable resistance from both the store associates and the manager, Megan.
Despite returning the sunglasses in exactly the SAME CONDITION as when I purchased them, I was accused by Megan of scratching the lenses and was told, "I don't know what you did in the two days." This accusation was not only false but also deeply offensive.
It felt that Megan was racially profiling me. She persisted in saying “I don’t know what you did with the glasses” and was assuming I had damaged the product, which is simply NOT TRUE.
Despite my repeated assurances that the sunglasses were in their original condition, The manager refused to accept my return. Which was both frustrating and unjust. Her behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable.
I decided to visit a different store. And guess what!? They were great. The associates at the Macy's La Jolla store, were helpful and professional, and I had no problems returning the sunglasses. This experience only highlighted the poor service and unfair treatment I received at the Escondido store.
This situation was frustrating and I’m really disgusted by the treatment I received it.
I really hope other costumers don’t have to go through the same situation as me.
Please be careful when purchasing anything at this store. They’ll acuse...
Read moreUnplanned stop. A sale is always going on here so you tend to get shoppers who are buying things they don't need, and they are in a hurry, so not the kindest bunch. The escalator was broken, no safety measures, which was odd. The hand sanitizer at the door was empty and crusted over - also odd. Despite this, I had a very pleasant experience solely based on the customer service I received from Samira in women's department.
Despite carrying off piles of customer discards, she stopped to see if I needed help, which I did. Later on when I was ready to check out she was again extremely helpful and pleasant in the middle of customers who were not, and a co-worker (seemed to be a manager) who was a bit rude to her as well. Yet she kept a smile on her face and stayed on task helping me and making me feel like a valued customer.
I do not know the culture at Macy's. I get the feeling that there are people who are over-worked and under-appreciated. If anyone at Macy's is reading this, I just want to share that though your store was a 3 star experience, your employee Samira was a 5 star experience, which is why my review is 4 stars. And if anyone is seeking out someone to add to their team who knows how to give a kind and helpful customer service experience - you might track her down and offer her a position. We are in a world that has forgotten how to make people feel welcome, so when I come across a great service interaction, it's worth...
