I have been going to Palomar Jewelers for over 20 years. Tony, the business owner has always been very professional and "he knows jewelry," He is one of the most knowledgeable Jewelers that i have every encountered. Over the the last 20 years i have never used another Jeweler. Tony is always there to answer questions in person or by phone. He makes sure you will receive the best deal possible for what you are purchasing and if there is a extra discount he can provide you, he will. I recently was in town to get married. I went to see Tony for the engagement/wedding ring. He knew immediately what ring I was looking for and make sure he gave me the best deal that he could, so was able to walk out of the store with the ring. The wedding was planned very quickly and we had to purchase a wedding band for me a few days later. I called Tony and he told me to come out as soon as i could. We i arrived at Palomar Jewelers, Tony immediately showed me some bands. What make the process easier for me, Tony knew my "style" after years of buying Jewelry from Palomar Jewelers. Oh my goodness, these guys are lacking quality & customer service. Initially, our experience was great, lots of excitement and talk around designing my wife’s engagement set, built with a family heirloom, heart shaped diamond. We received the set in late November. Fast forward less than 3 months when we took a Valentine’s Day trip to the desert. In the morning, the ladies were admiring the gorgeous diamond and less than 4 hours later, my wife looks down to see her diamond was missing from her ring. She was not out riding or doing anything that could merit losing the stone. Only four months after going to these guys our rock, GONE. Tony went from being a “family friend” type, to cold and short. He lacked compassion and was unwilling to rectify his lack of quality & workmanship. (He stands behind his shoddy Jewler). We took the set in to a different jeweler to have the diamond replaced & they were shocked to see there were only 3 prongs placed to hold the diamond into the ring. This Jewler was a woman and was extremely knowledgeable. We learned the prongs holding in her ring were not even the correct type for the heart. The new Jewler has 5 points of attachment where as Tony’s guy only had three. None of which even anchored the stone in place as it sat raised up from the setting. Almost floating. We had no idea as we had to learn the hard way. As much as we thought we’d found our “jeweler”, it didn’t take long to see Tony’s true colors. Terrible! I brought my grandma's ring, a family heirloom for 4 generations, after she passed and I inherited it, to have it sized. It was perfectly fine and had been worn by all the women in my family for 4 generations! First of all he sized it wrong, it is way too big and not able to be worn because it will fall off my finger, which is the whole point of having it sized! Additionally to him NOT sizing my ring properly, WHICH I PAID HIM FOR, HE BROKE 3 PRONGS ON THE RING! So I cannot wear it, and now I have to find another jeweler who actually knows what he's doing to fix the ring which wasn't even broken before he got ahold of it, I am out the money that I paid him TO BREAK MY RING and size it wrong, and now I have to pay someone else to hopefully fix the damage caused to my family heirloom. And when I picked it up and noticed there was a prong standing straight up, he didn't even apologize and just bent it back down SIDEWAYS with his machine.
