Primos Mexican Food & Cantina — Restaurant in Escondido

The new menu change is incredibly inconvenient and an obvious cash grab. Heads up the menu on their website is not up to date. I went in for a bean and cheese burrito, it's not on the menu anymore. The cashier had to ring it up as something way more expensive and had removed all other ingredients. The total came out to over $11 for an incredibly simple burrito.

The cook started yelling at her for putting the order though in front of everyone.

Same with taquitos. They don't have regular ones anymore with just cheese and guac. You HAVE to order the "premium" ones that are so overloaded with toppings and lettuce that it'll all fall off the second you pick it up. Even if you remove the toppings you're spending over $10 with tax for THREE taquitos now.

I used to come here for quick lunch at work like twice a week mostly because it was so convenient, never again. There are so many other Mexican spots in Escondido that don't try to overcharge and inconvenience their customers. Go to anywhere else instead of supporting what...

They have pretty good food. However, I think I’m done going there after my most recent visit. Picked my family up from the airport and headed straight there so they could get their carne asada fix while visiting. I walked in 14 minutes before closing for take out and was told by the girl at the register that she’d be right with me. Stood there waiting for a few minutes, when another girl came up and told me they were already closed. I apologized and said I thought they closed at 10, the girl behind the counter replied “well it’s basically 10, we have to have time to clean up before we close.” As someone who works in the food industry, we all hate that customer who walks in 5 minutes before closing, especially if they’re going to dine in, but come on, 14 minutes and you’re refusing service? I had to throw the rest of my Carna Asada Plate away. I eat here regularly and have the Carna Asada Fries and they are 🔥. However, today's experience was horrible. When I spend $20 on a meal at a restaurant, I expect high quality. Along with my Carna Asada Plate to go today, I ordered chips and salsa while I wait. First, when I ordered, the lady wouldn't let me sub avocado for guac which was disappointing. Then the chips were gross and overcooked. Then, when I opened my meal, it was slopped together with very little meat. When I got home, and attempted to eat it, the edges of my flour tortillas was hard, and the rice was overcooked and hard and the beans were cold. What you see in my pic is what I had to throw away. I cannot afford to throw away $20! That's a lot of money to throw away and this was supposed to be a treat. I am very disappointed in one of my favorite restaurants...
