We had never been to this restaurant before, and didn’t know chips and salsa weren’t served like at all other Mexican restaurants. So after we ordered our food we had two things of queso and chips brought to our table and instantly thought that this was what they served instead of Chip and salsa. So we began to eat the Queso and chips. Then another waiter came over and yelled at us and said that was not ours, that it was for a different table and he would tell our waitress to charge us. So when our waitress came over we told her the story and said we better not be charged because we thought it was what they did instead of giving chips and salsa and had her remove the food. I’ve seriously never been yelled at by a waiter before for a mistake THEY made! We have worked with the public before and my sister used to be a waitress herself and we are very kind and patient with people in the service industry. We were blown away with how they treated us. Even our waitresses attitude changed negatively after that happened. The food was pretty good! But we probably won’t be back because if the service. Plus, I like the chips and salsa that’s typically served while you wait for your meal. That’s honestly what I was craving and why we went to a Mexican...

When I’m traveling outside of Texas there is only so much time that can pass before I have a massive craving for Mexican food. Such was the case the other night when we arrived in Estes Park, and gathered our granddaughter to have a meal together. She is now a local and together we decided we would enjoy Mexican food this evening. La Cucina de Mama to the rescue !!! The menu is extensive. We were unable to dine in, so I decided to order online to get all the details in without someone on the other end of the phone having to write everything down! The online ordering system was easy and before we knew it, we had ordered an abundance of goodies !!!! We ordered shredded beef, tacos, ground beef, taco, shredded chicken tacos in a variety of hard and soft shells. We ordered cheese, enchilada, chicken, enchilada, beef, enchilada, rice, and beans. Oh yes, also chips and queso. I think we ended up with enough food for a small army, We sat in the little glassed in back porch of our Airbnb in Estes Park. CO. on a little table & chairs. We were able to see the Rocky Mountains all around us, along with our cherished grand daughter. The food was very good, we enjoyed everything and we definitely put it on our “Go To” list for when we return. Don’t hesitate...

La Cocina de Mama is a small town gem. From outside it seems a bit dirty and unwelcoming, but the second you step inside the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The inside is also very pleasantly clean.

For a starter we had chips and salsa, and the chips were clearly house-made and fresh, and they were delicious.

We also ordered drinks, which were fantastic (especially the Mezcalitas!). For entrees we had an assortment of enchiladas, chimichangas, quesadillas, and tamales. To be honest it was perhaps the most authentic and flavorful Mexican food I've ever had, and it was incredible.

The prices are good for normal-size portions -- and these are not normal portions -- they're huge! One could pretty easily make two meals out of many of the entrees.

Again to summarize, the entire staff we encountered was super friendly and helpful, the drinks were great, and the food was great, flavorful, and amazing. I will definitely be back any time I'm...

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - we ordered Mama's Kitchen Burrito & Combo Platter of cheese enchilada, chicken chimichanga, and carne asada burrito. Overall, the dishes were salty but the flavors are pretty good. Nothing fancy nor memorable but it satisfies. The dishes had the same sauce on it so it tasted very similar and we wouldn't have known the difference other than the tortilla and filling. The Mama's had rice in the burrito and the combo platter had rice and beans on the side. Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go Service: 3/5 - the cashier seems newer as he struggled with putting the order in and had to ask the server for assistance. They switched to Spanish to talk with each other multiple times while taking my order. We were quoted 15-20 minutes but it took closer to 35 minutes for the food to be ready Value for price: 3/5 - a bit pricey for the average food

So I saw all the one star reviews of late, but noticed most were peeved about not having free chips and salsa. Should they provide free chips and salsa…probably. Will $3 for this break me…no. The salsa and chips are fresh made and very good. I ordered carry out and the food was ready when promised. I had the Michoacán Trio. First, all three enchiladas were fully filled. The sauces on each were very flavorful. The ground beef was very well seasoned. The chicken was all breast meat, but tender and juicy. My wife had the Arroz con Pollo. First, lots of chicken. The queso sauce was flavorful and plentiful. As a native Texan I can say the menu is more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, but there are some authentic Mexican dishes and everything we had was fresh made. If you want good Mexican food in Estes Park, La Covina De Moma is worth checking out.

I visited this place for dinner for me and my wife's anniversary trip to Estes, and we were very disappointed. The service was not good; our waitress instantly forgot if we said chips and queso or chips and salsa, a small red flag we thought nothing of. I only encountered that because we were sitting on the patio, and she forgot to put in our order as multiple groups got their food before us. All to lead up with, my order was incorrect when we finally got our food. I had to walk inside because it would be a while before she returned to check on us. I ordered flour enchiladas and was given corn; when I brought it up, they just brought flour tortillas themselves. It was laughable. The food overall was nothing crazy; I've been to worse but have been to plenty of better Tex-Mex places. Finally, the only redeeming quality was it had a chill ambiance.
