Edit: recently had another concern at this location. I had a wellness visit scheduled and they do a blood draw every year because I have hypothyroidism. Because I was getting out of the recommended level, my medicine was adjusted. I knew I would get a bill for the blood draw... no biggie. However, it looks like they are now upcoding as well... I was charged over $113 for them to adjust my medicine. This was not a new diagnosis, nor something out of the ordinary (my blood has to be tested routinely to prevent the issue from getting worse). When I tried calling and spoke to Lynette, I was interrupted, was spoken down to, and was scoffed at a couple times. I have NEVER been charged in over 10 years for medicine adjustments because it's an ongoing issue. How is it right to be charging people for any required adjustments? I asked to speak to a manager, was put on hold... then Lynette returned to read me her scripted response of why I was charged - again, makes zero sense and is not ethical. I asked her to provide her manager my contact info... her response was if I don't wait on hold, I can't talk to them. What?! I do have a job too! I really need to find another doctor in this state! Still do not recommend!!
Do not recommend this office, unfortunately... it is extremely difficult to get an appointment that you are left to go to Urgent Care until they can't help anymore. I like my primary dr, but can't get into him when anything is wrong. I finally got into an NP. Another issue... They always try to get money up front though I do have insurance. Last time I was told I had to pay $99... I had to push back and have them send to my insurance company. They obliged last time... my bill ended up being $34 total. This time their lab told me I had to pay $650 for a health panel or get authorization though I haven't been feeling right for months and have an existing condition that used to be checked regularly. A dr here ordered the test... why do I have insurance then? I ended up on the phone with my insurance for over an hour... they tried calling to get the correct code (the one I was provided was incorrect), but no one ever answers the phone. So... returned back to the office to try to speak to someone... she sent a message to everyone in the office, but I waited over 15 min and then returned to the front. The lady on the right at the front (my right) was kind... Dr Zinn may need to work on how she speaks to someone though. I was reasonably frustrated going around in circles and not understanding why it is difficult for someone to help. I do not feel right and want help getting it resolved. I have always paid my bills and pay a lot for insurance. Then I am told they cancelled the test... and was going off a urinalysis which doesn't look at possible other issues for my symptoms. Then, after I got upset, she tells me they were giving me other tests. So, why isn't there any communication? I have a job too and spent over 3 hrs with this situation, and trying to get things resolved. No apology from Dr Zinn that they gave me the wrong test or hadn't communicated the change to me. Instead I was left feeling like an idiot, and hearing giggling from their front reception area. I suggest finding a place that is more transparent, empathetic, and actually easier...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the doctors here have been great. Both Dr.Getz and Dr. Cox are very friendly, personable and competent. That's the reason this location gets even 2 starts, because the staff is ridiculously horrible. After being prescribed a medication that didn't work out for me (not the doctor's fault), I requested an appointment to discuss changing jt. I only have availability on the weekends, so I was told I would have to wait over 2 months for the next Saturday appointment with Dr. Getz. This was after 4 phone calls to get someone to even call me back in the first place when I wanted to see if I could simply discuss it with a medical professional instead of having to set an appointment. Excuses were given that they had tried to call me back on my cell multiple times but the line was busy.......no. I even told the front desk if I had to go to another location or see another doctor, that would be fine too, but no options were given. It took my wife calling in to the Banner general line, and those reps were extremely helpful, getting me in for a Saturday appointment (this location, different doctor) within a week.
Today I was prescribed a new medication. I am member with Optum but also use Walgreens. Even though I told the office that I wanted to use Walgreens instead of waiting for the prescription in the mail from Optum, they billed Optum anyway so that when I showed up at Walgreens, I couldn't pick it up. I called the office to tell them of the error, to which they responded it was MY error, as apparently they thought I told them to bill both Walgreens and Optum. They replied that they "do not make mistakes." The rep I spoke with continued speaking over me and telling me I was mistaken. Finally she agreed to call Optum and straighten it out, then call Walgreens. She called me back 10 minutes later telling me that Optum couldn't find me in their system. I proceeded to call Optum who found me and cancelled the order in less than 5 minutes. As a final step, I called Walgreens to confirm I could refill the prescription through them. They let me know that someone from Dr. Cox's office had called 10 minutes prior to state that everything had been taken care of, but the Walgreens rep said he had been trying with no success until I called him after my call to Optum, as clearly Dr. Cox's office had done nothing.
In short, the doctors are great, the staff for Banner as a whole are very helpful, but the staff at this particular location are beyond unhelpful, incompetent and rude and have forced me to look elsewhere for medical care in the future, which is very unfortunate as I do like the doctors I have...
Read moreWe've taken all three of our kids to Dr. Patel for well checks for 2 years now and today I took my youngest to see him for a well check visit. We thought the dr was interested and had a vested concern with my child because he had recently given him a diagnosis of ADD.
So today, the nurse that took us back and retrieved vitals was extremely helpful and great,as we discussed whether we had gone to a specialist yet, because he remembered us. We told him that my child was having issues with his hearing and wondered if possibly there was build up within the ear. So the nurse performed a hearing test in which the right ear was registering a "referal" code, which in short means it didn't "pass." The nurse indicated that possibly there was something in the way or possibly there were other anomolies that could be causing it.
The doctor came in, discussed issues he had seen my child for before, did a couple of regular well check talks and simple screeings, checking his ears last. Upon completion he said all looked well as he was exiting the door, so I then asked him, what could be causing the issue with his ear. So he said, "Oh, did they do a hearing test? I didn't see that." So he left the room and sent another nurse in to perform another hearing test, which upon completion were the same results as the first. She explained that the one ear did not pass. She left the room, came back in and said a referal letter would be in the mail in a couple of weeks for an ENT. Dr Patel never came back in the room to discuss how this could be possibly tied to difficulties my child has been having in school, nothing- no explanation. And upon check out, the second nurse came back to the desk and indicated to the clerk that Dr. Patel would like to charge me for a sick visit in addition to the well check because we discussed something that was not included with the Well Check.
I'm really disappointed. I thought we had found an office that we were going to like and be under the care of ONE family doctor that had genuine concern close to home. But it felt as though we were just pushed on through. My 10 year old was upset, not understanding what is wrong with his ear and no explanation as to what is happening. I am disappointed. I hope that they can look at some things to make...
