Camilla’s Closet — Local services in Evansville

I was a moderately frequent shopper and sometimes consignor, but my latest experience has decidedly ended that. I attempted to consign a Dooney & Bourke purse and a formal evening gown they decided they didn’t want. I also had an item that was to be engraved by their jewelery department’s outside contractor. I called to inform I would pick up the unwanted items when the item was finished being engraved, which was supposed to be Tuesday or Wednesday that week (I would be called when it was finished). I called Thursday because I had not received a call and was informed the outside engraver wasn’t able to complete the job due to a family emergency, but they could engrave in-house without the personalization I requested. I accepted that and was called Friday that it was finished. When I picked up the item Saturday, I was informed they donated the unwanted items because I didn’t “pick them up by the deadline.” I explained the above mentioned and they did a search at their warehouse and determined they already sent the items to their secondary store to be sold and they would not attempt to locate them. I spoke with one of the owners and was told nothing could be done and he offered that losing me as a client was acceptable. I had not threatened nor offered that, but told him if that was acceptable to him then I...

I did like it... but with mixed feelings. The shop is big, clean & friendly. Never no Capri style jeans for women or juniors. Great clearance rows--full!

I haven't been yet into the other room in the store but will check out on my next visit.. Prices are a bit higher than other used clothing shops, their handbag selection is nice--some overpriced (bc of the brand name maybe?) & will look dingy/faded or handles are peeling etc.

(Now this could just be me but when it comes time to check out, they are slow. Talking to others, making mistakes on scanning, then rechecking all bc of that mistake, switching girls to ring you up or running to the back for something!)

I do love the fact their about the animal rescue and some tagged items, the proceeds are donated to Rescue! And they have another store on...

I have been shopping with them for 2 years now and I couldn’t have asked for nicer people!! The store is fantastic, it’s organized, and very easy to find what you are looking for. The first time I met them they was all so very kind and helpful. I have nothing negative to say about them or the place but it got to me knowing their love for animals——in my book that’s the warmest feeling and they have to have huge hearts ——that alone speaks volumes to me. I absolutely love the lives they do, again, that’s something they don’t have to do for us (especially someone like me living out of town) but they do it to accommodate and I for one appreciate them for their hard work. Thanks to Camellas Closet for all that you do. You deserve more than 5 stars in my book!!!!! ...
