Downsizing from our sprawling 5,000 sq. ft. empty nest to a mid-size condo wasn't easy for Linda or myself, especially as we had accumulated a lot of stuff over 15 years. We made some hard decisions to jettison some truly unnecessary items (like, who really needs 4 ravioli makers?), but we still couldn't come close to fitting all of our most precious possessions into the available closet space. But then, we found California Closets! The name and reputation were not unknown to us, as they've been a fixture in Northern New Jersey for decades, but we had always assumed that they'd be too expensive or not sufficiently stylish. Well, we were wrong on all accounts! At our first meeting with our designer Ellen, she really listened to us and quickly got us and understood what we had in mind. Better still, she showed us some very interesting ideas for utilizing our space that we would have never thought of ourselves, and it was pretty amazing to see all of the ideas take shape in 3-D on her magic tablet. We ended up with three capacious and beautifully organized kitchen closets, including a walk-in pantry. Not wanting to stop there, we had Ellen redesign our master walk-in closet and optimize a small utility closet on our lower level as well. But her crowning achievement was in converting an unused hall space into a really cool and highly functional combination feeding station and storage tower for the use of our two beloved cats. We call Ellen's creation "the Kitty Korner" and it's much admired by friends and visitors alike! The cost for all of this work was very reasonable, and considerably less than I had budgeted. Yes, it was more expensive than a DIY home improvement store, of course, but then we wouldn't have gotten the look, the quality, the service...or Ellen! We were so happy with this work in 2023 that we recently called Ellen again to design a large wall unit in our lower level specifically to house Linda's art supplies, with a roomy work table built in. As with our prior experience, the cost was very reasonable, the delivery was on schedule, the installation flawless, and the quality and look of the results were fantastic. Touchdown!!! CC scores on TV console. Huge football fan here and naturally I need a big screen to watch my beloved Giants. Problem is I live in a really old building and the walls are made of solid concrete and wouldn’t have been able to have my TV float without any wires showing because of setup and construction concerns..enter Lori and CC team. She took measurements, listened to my goals of creating a super clean console to house my new entertainment system without showing any wires and went to work on a game plan. Such a great idea to build cabinets around that outlet and commandeer the power just for the console! They looked up the TV I purchased and configured the dimensions of the bracket for an exact fit. This was especially important to me and they took a lot of care and considered the TV in every aspect of this project from viewing height to accessibility of the wires. Communication throughout this whole process was excellent.

The guys that built the console were absolute craftsmen professionals. Came on time, had all the paperwork and certifications the building needed completely squared away and they knew the project intimately and got right to work on construction. I’m especially grateful for how they were able to snake the Ethernet cable behind the baseboard and completely hide it from view. They thought of that right on the spot!

This thing was built solid and meant to last. The craftsmanship is top notch. Smooth action opening the cabinets, nothing is loose or jiggly, a really high-end contract grade feel to the whole console. And very easy to maintain, I just swiffer it every now and then. Kids love to touch the bottom cabinets and I was mortified one morning to find smudges of pizza grease across the cabinets that has the game consoles. Fearing the oils would stain my pristine white cabinets I wiped it down with warm water soap and to my relief it was good as new.

There is so much to consider when designing your dream closet. With a general idea of what you want and so many details to consider, can be overwhelming. We needed someone to be able to address our concerns and help us in our vision to create the perfect space. After doing plenty of research we reached out to the California Closets team. We met our designer Lori. whose knowledge, expertise, and professionalism made the process go by so smooth. She informed us of the wonderful history of the company and their dedication to service, quality, and professionalism. She measured the space and was able to advise the proper dimensions needed to accommodate our clothes and the height of our shoes to best maximize the space. Her positive energy and suggestions brought an excitement to the process that we became excited of the possibility. After measuring the space and entering it in her software, she was able to provide us a 3d rendering of what the final product would look like. We were able to make adjustments and she provided great insight to create a final product we could be proud of. In the final stages. she was able to address any of our concerns to fully feel comfortable we were getting everything we wanted. Once the final designs were agreed upon, we set up the date to create our dream closet. Our installers Hubert and Chris were incredible, being able to take the vision and making it into a reality. They were efficient, professional, and were able to complete everything in just a few hours. The final product is incredible and it is everything we could ask for.
