Horrible, Untrained Employees and Dishonest. I received a $5 "Welcome to the Neighborhood" coupon. I visited this ACE to purchase items and use the coupon. The cashier said he could not get the coupon to scan. The coupon was not expired and I spent more than the coupon requirement. That did not matter. The young untrained cashier said because the coupon would not scan, he could not honor it. He told me I could pay full price though. I asked him to manually enter the $5 discount and he said he did not know how to do that, but he could charge me full price. I explained that his store mailed me the coupon and is now refusing to honor it. He said yes and there is nothing he can do about it. He was not trained well. Customer service was horrible and the store's welcome coupon was dishonest. As a first impression to a new resident of this community, Great Lakes ACE failed and did nothing to remedy it. Worse yet, either due to ignorance, laziness or simple disinterest (probably all three), this cashier didn't seem to realize or care that as a "New Neighbor," all the business I may have given to ACE over the next years to come was not as important to this clerk as compared to his refusal to honor a $5 coupon ... or not knowing how to or desiring to honor it. Guess where I won't be shopping as a new resident of West Bloomfield for the next 25 years? With that being said, maybe this employee is another example of the Covid-19 employee shortage many businesses are suffering from - forcing them to hire whomever walks through the door. This is unfortunate. But, as my wife says, I don't go where I am tolerated or disrespected, I go where I am...

She listened to problem and immediately recommended a possible solution. Grabbed her tools and went to work, no hesitation. To my extreme delight, Kelsey and I fixed the lamp. Living in this fast paced, stressed out world of ours heartening to come face to face with a genuine lovely human being. She could have led me to door and gotten rid of me. Easiest way. Not Kelsey. What a pleasure meeting this young lady. Words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you…

Read moreStopped by on the way to my job today to match a chip. Not a store I remember using before, but the helpful hardware man, right? After we waited for two employees to finish their personal conversation at the paint counter. The lady ordered me out of the store for smoking. I wasn't smoking. I put out a cigarette before I entered her store. Completely extinguished. NOT lit. Then the helpful hardware man REFUSED to match the chip! We tried to reason with him. Very often our work requires matching existing colors and your paint people are always so cooperative and respectful. I've had a customer card for years. I'll never stop here...
