We had a dear Aunt pass away who lived in Florissant. Our mother is elderly and does not communicate well, but had a very specific idea of the flowers she wanted to send to honor her only sister. My sister called in an order of pale pink roses and white flowers, suggesting lilies, be made into an arrangement in a vase. She also gave an example from Dooley's website of how she wanted the bouquet arranged. She originally asked for a $100 arrangement, but as our mother said she wanted a very large statement piece, called the business back the next day and upped the amount to $150, and reiterated the type of arrangement she wanted.
We arrived for the funeral the following week, and were very surprised and disappointed at what was provided by Dooley's. There were a dozen standard hot pink long stemmed roses, a sparse amount of baby's breath, and a few oddly placed greenery stalks. This was not at all what we requested, and certainly not the statement arrangement we had expected for what was paid.
I messaged Dooley's that evening and in great detail asked why the arrangement we requested was not provided and attached a picture of what was received. After several messages back and forth, Patty said she could not get the pale pink roses we wanted, substituted another shade, and said the emailed receipt read only roses and filler and that's what she gave us. She also responded that the large arrangement delivered had 24 long stemmed pink roses and was appropriate, beautiful and stunning. She said she was sorry we were not pleased. Her feelings about the arrangement were immaterial, it was not what we wanted, and did not have 24 roses! For the life of me, I can't understand how she could look at the picture and say there were...it is obvious there are only 12. I felt and expressed to Patty that for the $150 price point, the person taking the order should have made careful notes about what was requested, and if it could not be provided we should have been consulted. I suppose if there really had been 2 dozen roses delivered, we still would have been disappointed, but at least we would not have felt like we had been swindled. The exact bouquet we were charged $150 for can be ordered for $75.95 on their website!
We thought it was a good idea to support and speak directly to a local business. We would have been better off using Teleflora or FTD.
Our mother is 87 and wasn’t able to travel to attend her sister’s funeral. This gesture was very important to her. We made a big mistake entrusting Dooley’s.
Photo of Dooley's Florist & Gifts - Florissant, MO, United States. A dozen roses by my count, florist Patty claimed 2 dozen were delivered...obviously she was mistaken, yet she offered no resolution. Caveat emptor. ...
Read moreThe florists team was fully staffed and capable of making a walk-in xustom request the day before Valentine's Day.
That alone speaks to the character of the service to provide that level of support on likely their busiest week of the year.
The florists worked with to really take my request and shape it into a piece that went beyond my expectations.
They do offer various other gift items to go with the floral offerings. I did not partake, but they do offer chocolate, wines, cards, and an assortment of other sentimental items for differing occasions.
They are pricey, but I imagine that's both the cost of the quality, service, and fresh flowers these days anticipate $50-$100 range for most arrangements.

Read moreI absolutely love this florist! I ordered this item from NYC for my mentor and Dooley's made the entire process seamless. Having ordered online, the number of flowers I paid for couldn't fit into the teacup, so someone from the shop called me to help me pick out items to make the difference. It meant a lot to me as someone ordering from out of line to know that I wasn't simply a number but a valued customer.
This business is full of integrity and is intentional about customer satisfaction. My mentor absolutely loved her gift and I'm a happy camper knowing that my hard-earned money is going to a business that deserves it and truly cares about its customers. Order from Dooley's Florist & Gifts, both you and your wallet...
