I'm from Florida where all my local used book stores closed. This is a book lovers dream. It's an hour and a half ride one way from the island, and I went two days in a row. Only the tropical storm is making me stay home again! There's a section of books JUST for ones that have been made into movies, and it's extensive. It's got that homey feel of a book store that I as a book lover crave! I haven't felt as much at home and loved a used book store as much since the infamous Shakespeare Book Store in Paris, France! I can't give a higher praise than that! I felt like I walked off the streets of Foley back into Paris for a moment. It's entrancing. I'm going home with about 40 more books than I came with. It's absolutely worth the stop, there is something for EVERY ONE. The prices are, shocking. I got 40 books and paid around $150! That's maybe 10 normally...! I got some freebies for my purchases as well. Staff immediately knew I had come the day before and was helpful, cheery, and all around fantastic customer service.
If I lived here- I would do EVERY thing I could just to work there. But 10 hour drive is unfortunately a bit too far from home :( I'll be back come Christmas time though, if...
Read moreI, like another reviewer will probably not visit this shop again because of their restroom situation. When I was last here and asked about a restroom, I was told that there was one across 59! at the Welcome Center. I tend to shop a lot longer (thus potentially spending more money!) when there are conveniences like a restroom! Regarding the shops response to the other reviewer about the lack of a restroom available to the public because they can't make one that is ADA compliant - I find this a suspicious excuse - you mean to tell me that you do not have a facility available to your staff? Why not make what you have available to your CUSTOMERS also, while working on getting it updated to benefit any and all customers. Like the other lady said - we will just shop where they make us...
Read moreA bit cluttered and disorganized, but that is common in used book shops and I love to peruse them anyway. It's hit and miss with whether the employees are friendly or just don't speak. The employee at the counter when we entered today was very kind. While we were shopping, my teen needed to use the restroom and the employee (different person) denied him access. I don't blame her, as looking back through the reviews I find that this issue has gone on awhile and the owner has had a variety of excuses but apparently not fixed the problem. So, we put our things down and left. I'll find somewhere else to visit in the future, but I'm sad that this spot didn't work out. I'd love to give this place another shot if the owner decides to open the bathroom...
