TL;DR Used to love this place, but barista made us feel like idiots then laughed about it with coworkers.
I’ve been here before and loved it. I’m not from around here, so I was very excited to have the chance to visit again. However, my experience today has turned me off ever coming back.
The barista who served me did not listen to me at all and completely treated me like I was an idiot. I know asking for a drink to be made without espresso at a coffee shop is odd, but they’ve done it for me every other time I’ve gone - and it wasn’t even my idea to begin with!
The first time I went, I asked if it was possible to get any of the drinks without coffee in it, and the barista that time actually suggested having a drink made “cream-based instead of espresso-based.” That drink was fantastic, and it’s what I’ve ordered every time. But today, the barista serving me argued with me, saying that what I wanted was to have it made decaf. I finally accepted, since I won’t have the chance to come back again soon, and I figured - she works there, I’m not a coffee person, surely she knows what she’s talking about more than I. Not so. Unfortunately the drink I received tastes like water with strong coffee flavor. It doesn’t have any of the syrups, toppings, etc. that it is supposed to have.
I’m not one to write off a place because one worker was rude, but having the person serving you argue with you, and then laugh with coworkers about it in front of you while you’re waiting, and then have what you ordered not be what you asked for… Not a great experience. There are a multitude of coffee shops in Foley, and next time I’m in town, I’ll be trying...
Read moreI was driving through town this morning after taking my son to school and noticed the sign for The Drowsey Poet. The picture of Shakespeare sparked my curiosity. I wasn't prepared to be seen in public that early with my hair unbrushed and no bra but I decided to throw vanity out the window and go in anyway. First of all I love the building. It appears to be an old mechanic garage with big windows that now have stools strategically placed for a nice view of traffic driving by. The decor was adorable. Old license plates fashioned into light fixtures along with tall, handsome tables and chairs for seating. The coffees and teas are named after poets and writers so I ordered a "Poe" because Edgar is my favorite ❤. You can also order a pastry or bagel. I chose a bagel and a flavored cream cheese. I also noticed they offered a drive thru window service as well. They have free WiFi and the password is "Haiku" which I thought was charming. I really enjoyed this new addition to our...
Read moreI am a frequent drive thru customer who religiously orders the same drink. I came yesterday and my drink didn't taste anything like it usually does. I asked the girl working the drive thru to add more flavoring for me thinking it would fix it. It did not. However, later in the morning I went to the business Facebook and messaged them directly to ask if they changed their flavoring brand so I would know what to order next time. Whomever answered me was unknown to me at the time. They were so polite, gave me a gift card for my next order almost instantly sent to my email and apologized on their drive thru's behalf. Come to find out it was the owners, Stacy and Bryan. It is so rare to find business owners who care about their customers and the service/product they provide. I will recommend this company a million times over & will ALWAYS support local business. We all have off days but its what we do to make it right that makes all the difference in return customers. THANK YOU...
