Do not waste your time. Mr. Kim comes across as a typical businessman who seems to care only about his own convenience and profit, showing little to no genuine concern for families.

In preparation for my mother-in-law, who is currently in a nursing home, I had visited several American funeral homes in person. Every one of them was extremely polite, personable, and empathetic about her situation. They patiently answered all of my questions and made me feel that my family’s wish to keep the memorial service simple was truly valued and respected. One funeral home even offered to call Bergen County Social Services on the spot to verify how much of the memorial service, cremation, Korean Christian reverend, and funeral home usage would be covered. They clearly explained every cost in detail—literally from A to Z—and the total amount I would owe was only about one-tenth of what Mr. Kim quoted for the same services.

By contrast, Mr. Kim insisted on conducting the consultation only over the phone. Throughout the conversation, there was no sense of empathy or professionalism. His explanations were vague, confusing, and entirely focused on profit rather than helping the family minimize expenses. He even mentioned that a memorial service could only be held for a maximum of two hours in the morning—as if everything were scheduled around revenue instead of respect for the deceased and their family.

If you lack empathy, transparency, and professionalism, why run a funeral...
