If you find yourself in Fort Lee and craving authentic Korean cuisine, Gamja Tang Tang is an absolute must-visit! From the moment I stepped into this cozy restaurant, I knew I was in for a delightful dining experience. With its warm ambiance and friendly staff, Gamja Tang Tang immediately felt like a home away from home.
Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! One dish that stole the show was the Seafood Pancake. As a lover of seafood, this dish was a dream come true. The pancake was beautifully golden-brown, with a perfectly crispy exterior that encased a mouthwatering medley of fresh shrimp, squid, and tender scallops. The flavors were a perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, complemented by a subtle hint of green onions. Each bite was an explosion of deliciousness, and I found myself unable to stop until the plate was clean.
Another star of the show was the Pork Bone Stew. This hearty and comforting dish was a true showcase of Korean culinary mastery. The pork bones were simmered to perfection, resulting in a rich and flavorful broth that was infused with the essence of the meat. The tender chunks of pork melted in my mouth, and the addition of potatoes and vegetables added a delightful textural contrast. The stew had a subtle spiciness that gradually built up, leaving a warm and satisfying sensation with each spoonful. It was the epitome of comfort food, perfect for a chilly evening or anytime you're craving something soul-soothing.
The menu at Gamja Tang Tang is extensive, offering a wide range of Korean delights to satisfy any craving. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, always ready to assist with recommendations or answer any questions about the dishes. They truly go the extra mile to ensure a memorable dining experience.
To complete the journey, I highly recommend indulging in their array of banchan (side dishes) that come with your meal. From the kimchi to the pickled radish, each small dish was a burst of flavor that added depth to the overall dining experience.

Read moreSince the restaurant moved to a bigger location, the service and food quality have noticeably declined in several ways. The Gamjatang was supposed to have potatoes and bean sprouts, but they were missing. The restaurant acknowledged this mistake and deducted the price of the fried rice from our bill. The amount of vegetables in the Gamjatang has significantly decreased. The portion of jokbal was also smaller compared to before. The space is much larger now, but it’s extremely loud, with all the conversations and music echoing, making it difficult to enjoy a relaxed meal and conversation. It seems like the staff is still adjusting to the bigger space. There isn’t a dedicated server for each table; instead, everyone helps out as needed. They weren’t unfriendly, but they weren’t particularly friendly either. While we were still eating, a staff member brought the bill for the table next to us and placed it on our table by mistake. Additionally, when they set up a candle under the jokbal to keep it warm, they hit my hand and just left without even apologizing. When they served the Gamjatang, they didn’t turn on the table induction stove for us, so we, along with other guests, didn’t know how to operate it, which caused unnecessary discomfort. The staff seemed to lack attention to detail, and for those unfamiliar with the induction, it was quite frustrating to have the pot just left on the table without any instructions. The service needs a lot of improvement. While the reduced portions are disappointing, the food is still tastier than at...

Since we don't live near Fort Lee and had to drive an hour to get there, we were really excited to have 감자탕 and to check out the new restaurant.
Unfortunately, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment the moment we sat down.
The food itself was good and delicious — I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. However, the service was a different story. One of the servers had a serious attitude problem.
His behavior was rude and off-putting from the moment we were seated to when we checked out. The way he spoke to us was disrespectful and left a lasting negative impression.
We observed how other staff treated their tables — they seemed friendlier and even served portions onto individual plates. Meanwhile, the server we had just told us, "알아서 드세요," and didn’t offer any help. At one point, he even tossed dirty napkins into the trash bin on our table. What kind of behavior is that?
There were no greetings, no smiles — no basic hospitality from start to finish.
To the owner reading this: please address this. Train your staff properly. If he's a relative or family member and that's why he's still working there, that’s even more disappointing.
All in all, this was a horrible experience, and it completely ruined what should have been...
