Have been coming for a long time, but the new management has really been lacking. Have been consistently disappointed by the very long wait (20+ minutes) for a small, simple order of 3 bagels with cream cheese, one with lox, and a sausage, egg, and cheese. Our toasted bagels were cold by handover. You notice the lack of attention to detail in how they clear just plopped the spread on and pressed the top on, and how unevenly they cut the bagel so that you wound up with almost 3/4 on one side and 1/4 on the other. Perplexing seeing as they had enough time. Was surprised to see how skimpy they were with the lox- little more than 1 piece around the bagel and thin. A real change.
I will say though that the bagels were fresh, the lox spread tasted great, and they gave a good amount of schmear on two out of three bagels, which was appreciated because their prices are on the higher end.
I see our experience has been shared for months when looking at other reviews. Hopefully they turn things around- the place holds some great memories before the previous owners left and we’d love to come back. In the meantime, we’re going to start going around the corner again for...
Read moreCozy bagel shop with nice people. I was super stoked to see they had whole ACME lox sitting in the front, and became hopeful they would hand slice the nova and pile it high on the bagel n schmear. So I ordered an everything bagel, never ever toasted, schmear, and nova.
The bagel itself was pretty good, nice chew and solid everything seasoning. They did schmear both sides which was a plus, most bagel joints in NJ make the fatal error of only doing one side.
Problem was the nova, which they did NOT slice to order…huge bummer. Turns out they pre-sliced and let the poor fish dry out…but the worst part of it all is that they put 3 scrawny little slices inside the bagel. 3!!?!? Attached a picture to show the travesty - just how sad and disappointing this all turned out.
Overall it ended up eating like a pretty decent bagel with lox spread…rather than the beautiful hand sliced lox bagel it could have been. They have the ingredients to do it right, but for now just 2...
Read moreEDIT Unfortunately, since there's been a change in management, the quality of food has gone down tremendously. The people working there, put hot food with cold items, so by the time I get my good, it's cold. The bagels are stale, the spreads do not taste fresh. I had ordered a plain white toast lightly toasted, it arrived burned (and cold), and it tasted like the knife used to cut it was used for something else. The omelet was beyond dry (not even sure how that's possible). Needless to say, I will stop ordering from Palisades Bagels. It's sad, as they used to be my favorite.
I have been ordering from Palisade Bagels for a very long time, almost every weekend. The bagels, spreads, salads are consistently fresh and delicious. Always made the way I ask for them make and arrives in perfect packaging and temperature. I'm from NYC and very picky about bagels, hands down, this is...
