I love supporting local stores. I like to see the products and asking questions. This Fort Pierce store has a wonderful general manager who is extremely helpful and once again helped me today finding items for the non-profit where I volunteer. Unfortunately, my experience turned sour when I went to check out. I gave the cashier the Tax Exempt ID. He kept said it didn't work and asked for my cell phone number that at one time was linked to the non-profit, but corporate changed that two years ago.
I called the corporate office while in line (on the side so others could get around me) and checked to make sure the ID was good. It had been on Sunday when I was in Staples. Now I put the cashier on the phone to talk with the corporate tax exempt employee so they could tell him the tax id was correct. He kept saying it was not good and asking for my phone number. He called the assistant manager over and she got all huffy with me as she said I gave him my cell phone number and not the Tax ID. Of course, the cashier didn't correct her. I had given him the tax ID number over and over and over again AND SO HAD CORPORATE. She said I had to give him the tax ID - which is the tax exempt ID which I had been giving him over and over and over again and so did Corporate. She made me feel really bad so I am doing something I hate - wasting time writing a poor review because I didn’t know that I had to tell the cashier to put the tax id in the place of the phone number.
If he was new, then shame on the assistant manager for being rude to me. He was standing there smiling as she reamed me out in front of other customers and later when I came back in looking for the manager who must have been busy in the back. I know that it is only because of the general manager and the photo staff that I might...
Read moreI had bought a printer on the 21st of August 2018. I took it home and opened the box. The printer looked like it had been used, I didn’t think anything of it and hooked it up. I couldn’t get the printer going nor connected to my computer. The next day I had my mother return it for me because I had to stay home with my baby who wasn’t feeling well. Come to find out my mom was not able to return it due to the manager (a male manager) who had said that we did not purchase the printer from here, although I did. The manager had come out being rude to my mother not explaining exactly what was and didn’t give us any choices on what we could do in this situation. He had rushed my mother out of the store and kept asking her where her car was because he will take it to the car because it’s not their printer. The next day I had noticed that the manual, disk and the wires were missing. I called in the next day and they told me that they have it in a bag. Today the 24th I go to pick up the stuff thinking it was going to be quick so I left my baby home. We ended up waiting for a while about a good 20-30mins. No one was able to find the bag for me, the female manager was being really nice and helpful, I explained to her what had happened and she had informed me that I could have gotten a used printer that was used before. I had told her that I came unlucky so what am I supposed to do in this situation and she said she doesn’t know but will help me in any way she can so she took my info down. I bought the printer because my friend had said it is amazing but the experience has been awful and I don’t appreciate how unprofessionally the male manager had...
Read moreI mainly visited Staples to drop off an Amazon return. I think there should be better signage pointing customers where to stand if making said return. The shipping counter is where I went in the past. You now have to go to Customer Service to complete your return. I mention this because the shipping line was quite long and I witnessed a customer waiting in the line only to find out she was in the wrong line. I was mad for her.
Not sure if this is a daily operation, or just a slow time of day, but the Customer Service employee has a dual counter - one for front lanes check out and the other for Customer Service. The return service can be a little slower if they get busy.
While there, I looked around for an A-frame chalkboard that I needed for my business. Their selection was limited in-store, but the sales rep assured me I will have better luck shopping at Staples.com. It is not a common item, so I am not knocking Staples for not carrying it in-store, but just in case you're in the market...
