Skipperâs has nice furniture but if you are expecting great customer service to go along with it, think again. The first time I went to the store I heard the manager in the back room yelling ferociously at someone on the telephone. That should have been my first red flag. We had to wait several minutes before he could help us. When he was finally able, he was obviously still in a foul mood. I finally decided on everything I wanted to buy and we finished the sale. He was in a much better mood after that because I had spent so much money on furniture for my new house. The furniture was supposed to come in a week later. He told us he would call when it was delivered to the warehouse and it would be delivered there next day. Well, a week goes by and no phone call. I called the store and the manager told me that it was going to be another week before the furniture was going to get delivered. This was around a holiday so I understood but If I hadnât called, I would not have known this. Another week goes by and no phone call, no delivery. I called again and the store clerk who answered told me the furniture was going to be delivered the next day. When I asked her what the time delivery window would be, she said they donât give a window and that I needed to be home all day so I didnât miss the drivers. I work from home, so no big deal. Well, most of the day passes and still no delivery. My husband called the store and they told him the drivers would call him 30 minutes before they arrived, but the day was almost over so we questioned if we were still getting it. Apparently, the manager contacted the drivers and about two minutes later a driver called and said he was a couple minutes away. I donât know what happened to the 30 minutes, but whatever. When they arrived, they were short a dresser. One of my main pieces was missing and the driver said it wasnât on the ticket. So I called the store and the manager asked me if I had even bought a dresser. I said absolutely I bought it and it was on my receipt that he had written up, literally hand written. When he looked it up, he saw that I had purchased it but said it couldnât be delivered until the following Monday. (The drivers told me they saw the dresser when they picked up the rest of my furniture, but since it wasnât on the ticket, they couldnât bring it.) I was pretty frustrated at that point and was trying to give the manager some constructive feedback letting him know my thoughts about the lack of being told a delivery window, it being so late in the day, and letting him know we only got the phone call because he had called the drivers. The manager proceeded to get snarky and rude with me telling me he told my husband that there was a delivery window of 11 to 3 however, my husband never spoke with him after we purchased the furniture and I was there the whole time when we did, and there definitely was no talk of a delivery window. He went on to blame the delivery issues on the weather because it was so hot. He never once apologized or took ownership of the situation. About half an hour later, the manager calls my husband (not me) and says the dresser will be delivered the next day. Overall, it was just a very uncomfortable and upsetting experience. Did she ever help me out in every possible way from answering my questions to carefully confirming my order and preferences. She never lost patience with my as I contemplated pierces and pricing. We were in town strictly to finish furnishing our condo here so that we could get it rented. Our delivery from Overstock never arrived, and was lost. UPS caused this issue, but at the absolutely last minute, we called several furniture stores in Ft. Walton Beach! Dave at Skipperâs Furniture was able to provide the triple bunk beds to be delivered the next day , with two people to assemble them! We only had the next day left before we had to leave back to Maryland. Dave saved us from having to delay renting our condo. Dave will absolutely have our continued business.
