We scheduled at 1pm on a saturday and paid for a tasting for a potential wedding cake for our marriage in October. I paid $20 for 4 different cupcakes and when we came in we went to the counter and let the group of gals behind the counter know what we were there for. One of them went and got our little sampler and politely handed it to us and nobody said another word to us after that. All the front tables were empty so we sat ourselves down to realize that they were also sticky and dirty. We tried all the cupcakes that all tasted relatively the same for being various different flavors and were all served with the same plain vanilla frosting. We finished and went on our way, the entire experience was very underwhelming and the cupcakes were cupcakes, if they are as uninterested like they appeared when we went in, then I do not trust that they would be interested/careful on my actual wedding day. I would not have paid $20 and drove across town if I knew this was all it was going to be.
Edit per owner response to my experience:
"We hadn't had time to clean anything yet!" - When we arrived, there was maybe one other customer in the main area and 4 gals standing behind the counter, I had hoped one of them would notice us looking for a clean table and would offer to clean one but I could have said something to any of the 4 gals about getting a quick wipe down since they were chit chatting anyways.
"We also have two different options" - your website does not depict that there is a cake tasting vs a wedding consult. My initial email specifically asked about a "tasting for a wedding cake" and since the website does not show anything under the weddings tab or policy tab about there being a tasting vs a consult then as somebody whos very first experience with the bakery was emailing about a wedding cake inquiry, I would have expected to be asked if I wanted just a tasting or if I was looking for a consult since those are not depicted on the website.
"if unspecified we do vanilla for all 4" - in my email with the bakery, they asked me only for cake flavors, had I been informed (again this being my very first interaction so I do not know everything that is offered) that icing flavors were also something we could decide on I would have hoped a simple email back asking about the icing flavors would have come through considering we scheduled this almost a month out.
"I'm sorry if this was a misunderstanding when booking" - I appreciate the attempt of an apology, the misunderstanding comes from the lack of communication/information that I would expect a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile planning our August 2022 wedding, it came time to find a baker for our wedding cake. We just wanted a small and sinple two layer cake for cutting at our ceremony.
Grayce with Icing for Izaac came highly recommended by several people so I had to get in touch with her!
I was able to message Grayce through Icing for Izaac's Facebook business page to ask questions. It was easy to get answers for my questions right away! I was able to fill out an order form with all of the specifics and send some photos of similar cakes I liked along.
Icing for Izaac also offered delivery to our venue which was a godsend! Grayce's mom even personally delivered and dressed the cake for us!
And let me tell you, this beautiful cake tasted as good as it looked! Raspberry top layer and double chocolate on the second layer were both equally light and delicious, but the best part was definitely the Icing!
Fantastic cake, fantastic customer service, fantastic family!
Support Grayce, her family and her small local business! She does cakes and cookies for all occasions and is opening up a new spot on Lima Rd too! Watch out for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first time I ordered from Icing with Izaac was about 1 year ago. I ordered a dozen cookies for a military promotion. I gave specific instructions and even sent pictures showing exactly what I wanted. When I went to pick up, they gave me SMSgt rank cookies for someone who had only made MSgt. I was so disappointed. The cookies still tasted great, but when youāre paying good money, you expect them to be done right. Then, a year later, I gave them a second chance. They moved into their own place, I saw pictures of the beautiful work they were doing, and I thought, you know what Iāll give them a second chance. I placed over a $250 order. I ordered both cupcakes and cookies, this time for my own promotion ceremony. They messed up the cookies again, by not writing the last name on the cookies. The cupcakes turned out great. When I mentioned that they messed up, all they could offer me was a discount, but by this time I was so frustrated that I told them not to bother. Maybe in another year, Iāll think about giving them another try, and hopefully by then, I can leave a more...
