Bought two Firearms, one Glock 17 Gen 5, and had planned on buying the Savage 6.5 Creedmore MSR 10 rifle which is more than $1200.00 with tax. I have over twenty years of extensive firearms training, so I already knew everything about the firearms I was buying. Then, a young boy named Austin who made sure to tell me he was the team leader, tried telling me his own negative thoughts about the firearm I planned on buying, when I realized up front that I had already forgotten more about any type of firearm, than he'll ever learn. I generally never leave these type of reviews but I feel that if this Austin is running the show, with his extensive firearms training he learned from playing Call of Duty. Then Academy has to be losing customers left and right. When I wish to spend a couple grand of my hard earned dollars on firearms that I had researched every single spec on, I do not! Absolutely do not need his prepubescent, over entitled, negative opinions about my purchase. And to make things worse, he was screaming at a nice looking, elderly man with glasses who I assume was the Janitor, because he was attempting to empty the trash. It was after this incident, that I decided to only buy the sidearm with some other accessories, and ammo. Then, it was time for the Manager to sign off on the form 4473, and what do you know? A lady named Tiffany, who was by far the coldest, and straight up rude person I've ever met. She had zero shame in it! She was about my age, and had red hair. But I truly believe that she had zero business being in customer service. I could elaborate even more, but it seems that several other reviews had the same problem. I'll just stick to purchasing from online businesses through my FFL dealer from now on. Academy.... I have been a loyal customer for as long as I can remember. But, these two employees alone need to be fired, because they absolutely do not need to be serving the public. I've fired people for much, much less than what I witnessed in the short amount of time I spent at the North Tarrant Pkwy. location. I've likely spent tens of thousands of dollars at Academy since I was much, much younger, but these...
Read moreWhere do I begin??? My wife and daughter purchased a S&W 9mm pistol with tactical flashlight on December 17th 2019 as a Christmas gift for me. I might add this is the first gun purchase they have ever made. They looked between the 40cal and 9mm and decided to select the 9mm with flashlight. They returned on December 23rd and purchased the S&W 40cal pistol for my son-in-law.
The sale advertisement for the 9mm with tactical flashlight was $299.reg price with a free $50.00 in store gift card that my daughter never received. Christmas day we opened the gifts, I was given the 40cal and my wife was given the 9mm as the kids had pulled a fast one and actually purchased the 9mm for my wife. She opened her present to find no light. My daughter contacted the store and they said come down and pick one up they would remove it from another pistol. I waited 2 hours and spoke to the manager and 2 young men who were helpful but the manager was absolutely terrible. She stated all sales person open the box and have the customer examine the weapon before check out, this never happened when they purchased the first pistol but did however happen with the 40cal. Purchased 6 days later. The associate grabbed the wrong box and th manager verified only the serial numbers as the transaction was completed. Only a credit of $20.00 was refunded but no flashlight or gift card was received. My son in law and I will no longer do business with this store due to the attitude of the manager and complete refusal to reconcile a customer's valid complaint. All Guns are final sale which is understandable, however Academy policy is 14 days to honor an item you've purchased at one price and refund the difference if it goes on sale.
I guess the next step is filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. All the bad reviews I've read from others seems to validate my...
Read moreUnfortunately this is the closest Academy near me. We just stopped by to buy shoes for my kid, granted it was 35 minutes before closing time but we were going to be in and out. Being from the retail consulting industry I’m alway cognitive of customer service. So, once I realized no one was greeting us I started keeping track. Like always I slid by the gun counter for a minute and while there a red headed lady who I believe is the manager didn’t say a word to me while I was looking around even though I was only about four feel away from her. A young man spoke up and I was like finally, someone is going to greet me but, it turned out he was talking to the redhead. So, my wife and I headed to kids shoes to purchase what we originally came there for. After leaving the gun department we walked by a group of four young employees in the isle in which not one greeted us. We made our way to the shoe department where I encountered an older gentleman that made direct eye contact with me and looked the other way without saying a word. While looking at shoes and while walking out we encountered several more employees of which not a one acknowledged us. I counted a total of twelve employees without as much as a hello. This store would save a lot of money by just getting rid of most of the employees as they aren’t really helping the bottom line but just riding the clock. Amazon here I come to buy the shoes for my kid. No wonder brick and mortar is suffering. If your selling any product that is also available online then you have to give the customer a reason to come in to your store. That reason is customer service. Also, I like the way they close the gates at the front door 15 before closing time. I guess they had already made enough money...
