Lisa: I will be back to support you.
I recently moved from Arlington and chose this salon to treat myself & my daughter. Lisa delivered an exceptional experienceâdeluxe pedicure, manicure, and dip nailsâtaking her time and showing real consideration for the fact that I had one arm in a sling.
However, professionalism was lacking from one staff member who worked next to Lisa. As Lisa walked away, this staff member pointed and giggled at my feet and Lisa's work area, then called the male receptionist over. Speaking in her language, she continued to point, making it clear she was drawing attention to me and Lisa's area. Twice, I asked her directly what the issue was. No response. I then asked the receptionist why she was laughing and pointingâhe brushed it off with a weak excuse, claiming she had called him over for a cuticle inspection.
Here's the truth: this behavior was ignorant, unprofessional, and outright disrespectful to a paying customer dropping nearly $300 for myself and daughter. Whether she was mocking me as a client or being a âmean girlâ to a new employee, it's unacceptable. Getting to know Lisa I found out she hasn't been there but for a short while. May God bless her if this is how sheâs treated in front of a client, I can only imagine what happens behind the scenes. A toxic work culture like this reflects poorly not just on individual employees, but on the business itself. It's not a good look. I personally have worked in environments like this and this event was triggering. Yes, the facility is clean but you must have the right energy to match the decor.
What was professional? Lisa ignored the nonsense and remained focused on making sure I was comfortable. She handled herself with grace, proving she deserves far better than the environment sheâs working in.
My FIVE âââââare for Lisa. ONE â for the owner, manager, and receptionist who failed to correct this behavior.
My daughter scheduled with Hannah, âââââwho did an amazing job. Theworld is difficult enoughâcustomers spend their hard-earned money on self-care, not to be made to feel...
Read moreIf I could give zero, I would. I came here on Motherâs Day to treat myself, and it turned out to be the worst salon experience Iâve ever had.
I booked ahead, clearly explained that I wanted experienced techs who pay attention to detail (Iâm very particular), and was assured that everything was set for 3:30 PM. When I arrived, I was told they were short-staffed and Iâd need to wait 30 minutes. I mentioned I had to leave by 5:45 PM and was promised Iâd be done by 5. Against my better judgment, I stayed.
The nail tech was clearly inexperiencedâshe struggled with the powder, applied it sloppily, and cut me multiple times with the file and drill. The pedicure was no better: my toenails were filed unevenly, the color didnât match, and the gel polish was such poor quality it didnât cure properly and came out wrinkled. I had to ask for it to be removed because it looked so bad.
I asked for medium-thickness acrylics, but they were left paper thin, with no clear coatâjust a gel top coat that offered no real strength. It was a disaster from start to finish.
Then the front desk tried to charge me $147 for this mess. I refused to pay, and they wouldn't let me leave unless they cut off the nails theyâd just doneâwhich I allowed, because they were a complete embarrassment anyway.
I left the salon bleeding, covered in bandages, and incredibly disappointed. The customer service was terrible, the techs were clearly unqualified, and my concerns were completely ignored.
Do not waste your time or money here. You deserve better. I will never returnâand you...
Read moreI googled nail salons near me with great reviews! With 4.6 rating, Modern Nails was my choice and they didnât disappoint! The atmosphere was quiet and had modern decor. Most salons had you a basket with several nails options that you have to ramble through. I like the fact that Modern Nails have their dipping powder organized to allow customers a better view of their options. Another plus that I appreciated was that the nail stations are separate from the pedicure chairs. I had no wait when I arrived. The nail technician was very communicative to make sure she gave me exactly what I wanted. Iâve tried acrylic from a different salon and was disappointed in the quality of their products. Needless to say, Modern Nails brought my hands and nails back to life! I will definitely be returning!
Update 9/6/25: Had my second visit to Modern Nails today. Unfortunately , Iâm choosing to change my rating. The first visit was amazing but today I was left with lumpy uneven nails. I asked for square round however I ended up with nails that are square on one side and round on the other. Not to mention most nail shop do not charge to add a nail before dip. The advertised price is $43+ however it cost me $53! Not to mention the 3% charge for using a card. My bill was $62.99 for one color dip! I am completely dissatisfied and will not be returning to this location. You can see the difference between...
