The course is fine: not as plush as Vail or BC, not as long as Eagle Ranch, not as short as Gypsum Creek. And except for BC, the cost to play is comparable. We've played this course for years, but something is amiss this year (2017).
Aside from the starters, club staff seems to suffer from a culture of indifference. For the second time this month, we went to hit balls, arriving before the range closed. The ball machine was padlocked and the "dude" was sweeping up the balls on the range. According to the website, everything still was open.
Four of us were standing around, puzzled at the early closing. We called the clubhouse and explained the situation. They said that they "couldn't do anything about it"—despite the fact that they were still selling fobs to get balls from the machine. Also, we left our name and phone number at the club house three times this summer to set up lessons. No one ever called to arrange the lessons so we're taking them weekly at the Vail Golf Club.
It's hard to be enthusiastic about a playing a course where the staff and pros care so little about customer service and honoring business hours. There are too many other good options in...
Read moreThe golf course is beautiful, however, there is a desperate need for a course marshall. We played behind a group that was teeing off 3 times per person per hole and I called the clubhouse to have a marshal come keep up pace of play and one never showed up. There were 3 4somes backed up on the entire back 9 for every single hole. When an employee drove past me I asked him if he spoke to the group ahead of us and he completely dismissed me. Our round took 5 and a half hours of constantly waiting behind groups with no course etiquette and never offered to let us play through. The only person at the end of the round to greet us was their 13 year old bag boy and he seemed to know more about course etiquette than everyone else. He was a breath of fresh air after the slowest round I have ever played. I give the 13 year old bag boy 5 starts becuase of how awesome he is. I will definitely come back to play again because the course is in great shape and beautiful...but only once they have a marshal on course. Be prepared to wait behind several groups when...
Read morePictures just don’t do this course justice. Winding through mountains and over streams The views are spectacular. In fact, it was hard to focus on your golf pace of play when there are so many beautiful photo opportunities. We played with a lovely local couple who was so helpful. Course is somewhat challenging, especially on certain holes but easier par 4s make it a good mix for all levels of golf. Even if you aren’t playing the back tees, go to the top and look at the views and the course layout. I played the women’s tees (should have played the ones a little further back to be a little more challenging and more in line with the yardage I am accustomed to at my home course) My husband played the backs and loved it! If your in the area don’t miss this course. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because we encounter a couple of staff members not...
