We went to the littleton location for the first time & our experience was horrible. We had just came from platos closet & the experience at platos was amazing compared to this store. When we walked into once upon a child nobody greeted us.We where there over an hour shopping. We had our toddler & our small service dog was in the back of the stroller on a leash. Our toddler was out of the stroller exploring. During that whole time our dog barked 2 to 3 times separately & not once did he get out of the stroller (he is trained to stay in there until told) On the last bark after over an hour of being there we where still not done with our shopping, a woman wearing what looked like a crop top shirt showing her belly button & her belly button piercing(are you kidding me, you work in a children's store!) (& told us no dogs where allowed because of allergy reasons. i suffer from allergies and i was having a flare up in there because everything is so dirty &so dusty, from the toys to the strollers to some of the clothes. If they have an allergy concern they should probably try to keep everything clean. But we responded with an okay & took him outside. While my husband took him out to the car, our toddler was visibly distraught over it & began crying and screaming and kept trying to run out of the store after our dog. My husband came back in & calmly asked the woman for her name & for a manager & she claimed to be the manager & said her name was Emily. She then changed her story that the reason was because he was barking & growling. He was not growling but yes he did bark 2 to 3 times that entire time we where there. I would understand if he was out of the stroller & uncontrollably barking. Right after that incident we immediately just wanted to leave & not continue shopping, & didn't even want to buy anything from there but since we literally spent over an hour of our time & energy we decided to just leave some stuff. There was no cashiers close to the counter exept the manager so we thought she was available but we where just standing there &she was just ignoring us, didnt even bother to tell us she was not open or point us where to pay or even acknowledge us, really unprofessional. Weve never been there so we dont know how everything works. Then another cashier got close to the counter so we went to her. The Cashier was really friendly & nice and trying to make it better & break the tension & handled everything professionally (She should be the manager) we bought close to $200 worth of stuff. I'm just upset that we where not able to finish our shopping. I don't know their dog policy & we didn't see a sign about dogs not being allowed but I respect her decision. What bothered me was 1, she was showing her belly button piercing and shes the manager. 2, she was not honest from the start about her reason. Once she changed her story we felt discriminated & confused because how do we know her second reason was the real reason if the first one was not, how do we know she was not just making reasons up just to discriminate. Our dog was not bothering nobody. He definitely didn't bark up a storm to be taken out of the store. & 3, that we couldn't continue with our shopping and it took us a while to find items reasonably priced. Not everything is worth the value its priced at. Like for instance there was a big dusty activity table priced over $30 I believe & you can't even do anything with it because it's missing the main activity cards for you to be able to use the activity table. Ridiculous price for something your child can't even use. There was also a twin stroller that was really filthy & grossly stained and was also over priced. So if you decide to shop here which i dont recommend, just be very cautious with the items you pick. Also they don't greet you when you go in & everything is quiet and awkward & everyone looks miserable to be there or they just don't like each other. We will not be going back, I've herd good reviews on kid2kid store. We will be trying that one next to continue...
Read moreI chose 4 stars because this establishment performs two very different services. See below for a more detailed description of my experiences.
As a buyer: I would give this store 4 (maybe even 4.5) stars. The only reason it would not be 5 stars is because once I bought some "Clearance" clothes and when I brought them home, they were horribly stained in the hidden areas (The bottom, hidden by the accompanying overalls).
Other than that experience, I have to say that this store is amazing. The store is clean and very organized. It's easy to navigate and I cannot begin to calculate the money I've saved buying "like new". Everything really is clean (except the one experience) and they have a stamp program where you can save up and receive 20% off an entire purchase. I love to stop in here once a week and see what is new (since the selection is based on what they receive from others). Everything is checked before it is on the shelf to ensure the product has not been recalled/that the product is in working order.
During their event days (Halloween stock, Winter Clothes, Etc.) they are SO ORGANIZED. They could teach other businesses how to properly organize an event, and I mean it wholeheartedly. As you line up, they have an employee come down the line and announce locations before the store opens.
I recommend it to all my friends and even acquaintances who ask where I got my children's clothes from. We participate in many community events/children's activities so I get several opportunities to recommend this place and I gladly do so (as a buyer)
As a seller: I would rate this store at about a 4 star. Honestly, as a regular buyer I understand the importance of ensuring only quality products are purchased. I would rather them turn away products as this is a HUGE reason why I feel comfortable shopping/recommending this establishment. It is what sets it greatly apart from a donation-based establishment. They do have a great system in place. They have a check list of why products were rejected and will tell you which they would like to purchase and for how much.
I understand that working that portion of the business can be difficult. I do not feel comfortable selling my gently used items for that reason because I understand customer service.
Selling your items can be difficult. Dealing with individuals trying to sell their items can be difficult. Personally, I would just rather purchase the gently used items and have little to nothing to do with the selling aspect.
TL/DR: Definitely come here to buy gently used children's clothes and toys. I wish that I knew about this place when I was shopping for my children when I was pregnant, I would have bought everything from here and saved over 50% the cost of buying new. Considering how fast little ones grow out of their clothes, it is definitely worth it...
Read moreI've been shopping this location for 4.5 years and I know ownership has changed in that time. Ever since ownership changed I have felt a difference. The pricing seems a bit higher even compared to Kid2Kid or the other Once Upon a Child over off county line. This location is larger and often has a great selection so I keep trying it but often leave feeling a bit disappointed. This last shopping trip I was looking through shoes and saw several toddler shoes (I was in the girls 7,8,9 bins) very dirty! Like a pair of keen sandals caked in dried mud on the bottom in with all the other shoes for $17. I understand things will not look brand new but shame on the person who brought them in like that and also to the employees who put them in the bin in that condition. I needed a pair of rain boots and the ones I liked were also covered in dirt on the bottom. I asked about getting a discount considering how dirty they were and the employee let me know that they consider that when pricing things. I also asked about talking with a manager to bring up the issue and she just said that one wasn't up there at the moment. I had to get to a meeting so didn't want to wait around or press the issue. As rain boots I know I can clean them off easily but was still surprised by the condition. Definitely washed my hands and everything purchased thoroughly when I got home and don't plan to go back to this location when the other options in the area offer a better experience. I wish I would have taken a photo of some of the shoes I saw but didn't think about it until I was home and all my...
