"Oh wow look at all these good reviews"
Famous last words before I wasted 20 bucks on this dogwater restaurant and their fajitas.
If youre one of those people that "love mexican food" but don't actually frequent an authentic Mexican resturant or food truck, then this is the perfect place for you.
Otherwise if youre expecting some sort of flavor or even the lightest hint of salt or seasoning or anything for gods sakes anything at all to actually have taste here, especially at this price point, then you will be sorely disappointed.
When I went to pick up my order it looked like seniors night at the rec center so im assuming thats why they somehow still have 4+ stars and are able to charge 15-20 dollars for 50 cents worth of mashed unseasoned beans and rice. They gave me only one tiny ketchup packet sized portion of salsa for my bag of chips in a to-go ramiken which is fine because the salsa was terrible anyways.
The salsa tastes like they cracked open a can of tomatoes and used the water as "salsa", if anything it was a little bitter. The chips are always usually really bad at Mexican restaurants thin, cheap, unsalted, etc but here they somehow managed to make them even worse. Dried strips of cardboard have more flavor and crunch. The beans and rice also taste straight boiled with no salt or seasonings of any kind. I could go on but most people cant read this much in one sitting and if you haven't made your mind up yet, then nothing else I can...
Read moreWe agreed that the food was good, and the salsa was unique. However, our dining experience was not the greatest. We observed only one person who was seating, taking orders, serving and bussing. As a result, I assume, he forgot the side order of guacamole that I requested. Then he never came back to check on us. So we couldn't get a refill of salsa, and I couldn't remind him about my guacamole. When he finally came to our table, the result of my husband signalling him, I asked for a to-go box and an order of flan to go (which I would have enjoyed there at the restaurant if I had been able to order it before my husband was ready to go). He brought these items, but failed to bring the bill for another 10 minutes, and it was another 10 minutes after that, with my husband standing up and waving to him every chance he had that the server picked up our credit card. Altogether, we were there a good half-hour longer than we needed to be, simply because our server was inattentive. That lack of customer service can't be made up for by good food--there are other places that have good food. We'll give them one more chance, because the menu variety is good and the prices aren't bad. But they've already used up two of their...
Read moreHaven't been here before. The lengthy note in the window declaring “no free refills on chips” should have served as a warning. What surprised me most was the tiny size of the chip basket, which barely held more than a handful—hardly enough for four people.
Let me start with the best part. The atmosphere is great! The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and the service is excellent. The food is good, but not great. I tend to prefer my Mexican food more on the mild side, though I do enjoy my food well-spiced.
I ordered their chimichanga burrito (deluxe). The burrito was crisp, crunchy, and the overall presentation was nice (see photo). However, for nearly $17 dollars (and sodas costing over $4 dollars), I expected the burrito to fill the plate; instead, it was quite small. Thus, presentation was about as far as it went. Unfortunately, the burrito was so mild that it lacked depth of flavor, and I even had to add salt to enhance it. I requested my sauce on the side, which was served barely at room temperature. Overall, my experience here was good but not great.
Even more bothersome was a 3.5% credit card convenience fee - Ouch!
There are plenty of food options out there, so next time I crave Mexican, I'll reconsider...
