I want to share my recent experience at Sporting Chance, which left me and my family feeling deeply uncomfortable. We were there to watch my sister play basketball, but things quickly took a bad turn. My father, who was with us, was asked to move by an employee named Logan in an unnecessarily aggressive manner. There were no chairs available, which is why we were sitting where we were. Despite my father saying he would move, Logan continued to stand in front of him in a confrontational way.
When we asked to speak to a manager, the situation got even worse. The manager was aggressive as well and ended up calling the police. Shockingly, when describing my father, they referred to him as a “Hispanic with tattoos,” which felt racially motivated. This made an already tense situation even more upsetting for us. Instead of handling the matter respectfully, they escalated it in front of everyone, causing a scene that was completely unnecessary.
The way this was handled was not only unprofessional, but it also set a terrible example for the kids there. It would have been more appropriate to ask us to move during halftime, rather than in the middle of the game in such a confrontational way.
Upon looking at other reviews, I noticed that Tom, another employee, has also been called out for saying hurtful things to others. Sporting Chance should seriously reconsider how it treats its patrons and ensure that those running the establishment care about the kids and...
Read moreWe've been watching our grandchildren play basketball all season. After each game, the kids will receive a drink and a snack from one of the parents. This has never been an issue. Tonight, the General Manager, Tom Carie approached me and threatened to have me thrown out because I had the snacks my youngest granddaughter had just received. I had two other grandchildren that still had games to play and could not leave them. He continued to threaten me and say there is a very strict policy and there would be no further discussion. I refused to give up my granddaughter's well-earned snacks and did concede that they would not be opened. He then proceeded to stare my family down for the rest of my second grandchild's game with another employee.
On our way out, I saw him doing the exact same thing to another parent.
Terrible GM and what a bad example to his employees! Thank goodness it was the last game of the season! I am researching who he reports to so I can file a...
Read moreThe parking is absolutely inadequate for tournaments here and then the staff will lecture you about proper street parking as if it’s your fault. While trying to figure out the scoreboards for a volleyball tournament, the manager acted really put out that we didn’t understand how to use a basketball scoreboard for volleyball. The women’s bathrooms always have an insanely long line, which is hard for players between games. The seating for fans is inadequate.
Positives are that the facility is generally clean and the teenage staff is very kind. There is food available for purchase (but they’ll murder one of your players if they’re caught with an outside protein bar, like most facilities). The courts have more space around them than many local facilities.
Overall, I don’t mind playing here, but I wish they’d figure out the parking...
